hi..
The problem i am facing is.. that whenevr i log into my account in xp.. or rather any account.. there appear no icons... nothing works... no star menu or anything.. even ctrl+alt+del doesnt work.. the only remedy is to restart the system...
i run on a modest p4 and on a modest 865-gb ... having a modest 512 megabytes of ram...
coming to my recent activity... have just started updating the windows .. by runing the online updates ... the reason being ... a few days ago.. some error flashed ..(akin to the blue screen of death).. saying updates might be needed... fI forgot the error code... but man.. tit had a lions share of 0's in it... and memory dump begins in [counting down] seconds....
And of late i ran my spybot.. and found lot many wares on my pc.. all were removed .. except.. whenu.clocksync.. which apperently came from a clock syncronization software...
i wud really be happy.. if i am provided with a solution... :)

seems like a nasty infection of viruses, worms and spywares

would suggest you back up all your data asap (not exe files) and format the partition, as soon as you do, dont install any software except maybe the drivers from the driver CD, connect to the net, download the latest version of

1. Avira AntiVir

2. Spybot

Run both their scanners for the entire system (as files in other partitions maybe infected) and then go from there about your regular install

i mean... i run nod32... and evrything seems perfect... no viruses .. i can assure.. i am behind kpky firewall... so no viruses.. or spywares.. assured... :)

ohhh, well thats a different story, so it just gets stuck at the welcome screen while logging on, or after login is done and explorer is being loaded?

when that does happen can u ctrl+shift+esc ur way into the task manager?

Could you note down the error code that is displayed on the BSD. That would provide an insight as to what the problem is...

I would suggest booting in to safe mode . Then go to " start - run - Minidump" .
You will see loads of files there . Just zip them up and upload somewhere and provide a link . We could try and see if some driver or application is a cause of it which ideally could be troubleshot rather than a Operating system reinstall .
