Galvanizer
these days mine Venice chip is behaving strange .....

i am running it on 280x9 2520mhz from past 2-3 months i guess and now i increased it to 285x9 2565mhz..... it is the max it can do with stock Vcore ......

i had done 327x9 2943mhz@1.55v ... it was prime stable for 50mins...... but that time i didn't have the GPU(i was using a S3 PCI card) and the PSU was powersafe 500w ......

but now it can't even do 290x9 .... it fails in prime in about 15-18mins ...... its not the ram coz i have tried the 266 divider ..... i have even tried vcore upto 1.50 ..... after that i got frustrated and reverted back to 285x9 .... upto 305x9 i can boot into windows after that it starts to crap out ...

i am using x3 for HTT ..... but the ASUS AI booster will show 1141Mhz as FSB i don't know wat is that .....
i just can't find the problem wat is it ......

any suggestions,
Rahul

Chk rails on that PSU with multimeter... Also chk the Multi... I hope its not set to Auto by mistake...

again mumtimeter i think i wud have to buy a new one now(i am delaying this from long time have 2-3 at home everytime i think i wud take one and forgot or better i say carelessly leave that) ...... anyways multi is set to x9 i always keep that never set it to auto ......

another thing i changed is the BIOS i have updated the BIOS of the board but i am not sure when i did that .... can it be the BIOS??

There can be multiple reasons for this.

What are the temperatures?

Have you tried giving 1.55v now and see how far it goes?

It may have done 290HTT at 1.50v in past but your configuration is not exactly same.

I have observed it myself that i could oc more with inferior graphic card on inferior PSU than superior card on superior PSU. thats one of the reaosns you might see people going for record CPU oc use some al cheapo pci graphic card.

Personally i never got my 0517 perfectly stable over 2.82Ghz

Thats max it will do prime stable.

Sometimes it will last prime for 1-2 hours at 2.9Ghz but fail in 10 minutes on the next boot.

Changing Bios too can affect the oc sometimes but i doubt it will have any drastic improvement unless its buggy bios or not suited for your perticular setup.

Just play with couple of different bios and see if it changes anything and if you wana put back that old pci card and see if you are able to more.

And stop using AI booster :P

^^ hehe i was only telling that AI booster is showing me wrong values i never use them to OC .....

anyways i have just downloaded new BIOS 1011-001 beta i will test it tomorrow night and chk whether its a bios problem or wat .....

temps are ok never goes beyond 45*c on full load ...... sometimes 47*c on very hot days .....

heh i meant stop using the AI booster even for checking values.

Use Cpuz and everest.

AI booster is crappy piece of software.
