I want to buy a PS3 soon.
I dont know anything about a PS3 so please let me know all the details i want to know.
I am considering the following two options
Sony PS3 160GB Console Price India, Buy Sony GamePad Console Hardware Online - Infibeam.com
PlayStation 3 320 GB Medieval Move Bundle Gaming Console online | Buy PlayStation 3 320 GB Medieval Move Bundle Gaming Console in India | Tata Croma
One is a 160GB and one is a 320 GB with move.I am not interested in Motion gaming so i can sacrifice the move controller.
Now is the main question-What is the need for a 320GB HD?
Is there a need to store such Mass amount of data? I remember using just a 8MB MMC with the PS2 which was more than enough for me.
What are the things that consume space?

I went through it :)
That thread helps in Xbox VS PS3
Now i need help in PS3 160GB VS PS3 320GB.
Also i want to know
Sony PS3 320GB + 2 games free - 18,990
where can i get the above offer? And do i get to choose the games?

The larger hard drive capacity should help for game installations from the blu-ray disc, and the PSN/PSN+ subscription games which are essentially downloaded and installed from the console so they take up a considerable amount of space on the hard drive. Yet the 160GB space should take a while before it fills itself completely and besides, you can always swap the drive with another 2.5” drive (the same internal drive used inside laptops and netbooks) which supports up to a maximum of 750 GB. You can safely go with the 160GB console.

As for the bundle, I am assuming the offer was available at the time that guide was posted so it may not be available in the outlets now but please do a check. There could be a bundle from the older lot still available in the lesser known outlets. And no, you do not get to select the titles. It comes as a bundle and the discs are shipped inside the box not separately.

So the sentence in italics means that we need to install the game before playing it?(Just like in a PC) This was not the case in a PS2!
The sentence in bold,well I didn't understand a word :D Layman terms please :)

Yes for the first part.

For the second, you need to create yourself an ID in the PlayStation Network service which entitles you to free game demos, internet browsing, instant messaging, trophy database etc. which are some of the basic free services offered and some other services which are useless in our country (Netflix for instance). Within the PSN, you can access the Store wherein you can purchase titles online and download it to your console just like the Steam service available for the PC. Some of the titles occupy a good space on the drive.

The installation part is not good at all,and can i run a game without the CD after installing it on the hard drive? If no is the answer than is there any possible way to do it?
And for how much can i get a 320GB HDD for the PS3? Can you post some links?
And can i manually install the external HDD in the PS3 or will i be needing a professional's help?

No the blu-ray disc has to be inside the drive at all times. The game frequently accesses the disc for several contents. There's no reason why you should find the installation part being not good. Other than the occasional pauses between the game levels/chapters, there should be no hiccups otherwise. There is no other way to over-ride this process.

Please do some search on the e-commerce sites such as Homeshop18, Flipkart, eBay, Snapdeal etc. Grab the cheapest deal. These sites are pretty popular among the community members and offers decent service.

Depends how well you are used to fiddling around with computer hardware. Have you ever dismantled the innards of a PC? For instance, removing a hard drive from the chassis, installing a new drive on the chassis etc? If yes, this should be a walk in the park else you can take it to a Sony's authorised outlet and they should do it for you.

Ok thanks,i have never opened up a PC. But i'll search on the internet for some step by step guide.Firstly i have to buy one.
So i guess i'll just buy a 160GB variant.

You need not install the game to play it but installing the game helps reduce loading times.

Good to know. What is the approximate difference in the loading times?

Dont get so worked up over it. The only game that needed to save content on HDD was GT5 of all the games I've played till now. Most games just run off the disk. As for the games that you download from PS+ or PSN, you definitely have to install them after downloading, which takes about 10 minutes tops for 7-8GB games.

Ok thanks.
And can i get a 160GB PS3 cheaper than infibeam anywhere? If i shop offline or from Alfa will it be cheaper?
Please suggest places in Mumbai from where i can buy it at the cheapest, since there is no-warranty,with bill or without bill doesn't matter.
