Hi!
Okay.. so my group at coll have been assigned the task of creating the college website. Well basically the whole group dunno anything much about the whole process. The same goes for the other groups in our class as well.. but that ain't the point.

Now could any of you help out with guides/pointers? We want to make it as creative as possible. Not like any other normal college webbie, Yet want it to be simple to build ( I know thats gonna be sorta hard). Any help will be greatly appreciated. :)

First you need to purchase a domain name like say collegename.com

Than you need web space to store files.

Now comes designing work.

1) If you know coding and little graphics work, than you start making webpages.

2) You can use some web designing software like Dreamwever, photoshop, frontpage etc.

3) You can just download any free template and edit its content.

4) You can use any CMS like wordpress, joomla etc.

5) You can hire someone for the job.

Since you are new to sites and all I would suggest you to go with wordpress. Don't underestimate the power of wordpress. You can find LOTS of themes related to college/educationa; sites that will best suit your needs. Also with the help of plugins you can customize your site to great extent.

Also, if you have a decent budget you can get a premium theme or custom made them for wordpress as per the layout you have mentioned above. If you need further info jut hit me with a PM. I have been in this indutry for about 2 years now :)

If you don't want wordpress, Joomla is also a good option.
