hi!

I have planned the following rig (with some options) for myself. I want a high performance system with enough juice for gaming at high resolutions & fps. Also it should double up as a 5.1 home theatre.

Kindly help me with prices of the components (especially in delhi).

CPU: AMD 3500+ (Venice)

Mobo: MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum/ MSI K8N Diamond SLI (or should i go for ASUS A8NE)

Graphics Card: EVGA 7800GT CO (will source this from U.S. for around 13k)

Speakers: THX Certified Logitech Z-5300 5.1

Sound Card: Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS

Cab: Antec Performance TX Plus View II/ Antec 108AMG SOHO

Power Supply: Antec TP 450W (can u suggest an alternative here)

HDD: Seagate 200GB

RAM: 2 x 512MB Hynix/Kingston

Optical Drive:
Sony DRU 16X DVD Writer

Display: Viewsonic VA1912w Widescreen (16:10) 19" TFT LCD Monitor (do suggest any other 19" widescreen monitor avl here)

Also tell me from where can i source these components (especially the speakers, case, power supply and monitor) in Delhi.

Thanks for all the help

rPOk.

sweet..soundcard+speakers+CPU+card good, PSU 480W neo power...
HDD 250 GB hitachi
memory - corsair Twinx 3200XL (2-2-2-5 timings) 512*2 DDR 400
Board - A8N SLI premium

I have got some of the components u mention here (the ones I've praised, the speakers are really good, so is the neo power...
Cabby is heavy but if you r gonna be in 1 place (unlike me) then OK :D

instead of the aud 2 ZS go for an Xfi extreme music 1 helluva card.. A fellow TE member told be to wait for its prices to fall a bit (thanks pal) so am waiting...:P

If u don't wanna OC then go with the 3800+ venice...(2.4 GHz will be really cool)

of course if budget limits then u have already a super platform for gaming...all the best...:hap2:

Try to avoid logitech 5300 5.1 spks ...it is too underpowered to be effective.

Avoid the 480W neo power antec psu too....go for 550W Antec TP2 , if it fits ur budget.

Avoid 3500+ cpu too and go for the much cheaper and more powerful opteron 144 or 146 socket 939 cpu. A TE Member "Switch" can arrange for the same in New Delhi itself. try to purchase a sealed pack unit from him if possible. (either tray version or retail pack)

Rams: go for Twinmos ones. and if you can find CL 2.5 rated ones then it would be ideal.

Optical Drive = LG 4167/B is pretty good too.

I have heard a lot abt opterons. Howz opteron 146? Is it 64 bit or 32 bit. I have heard opty's have a huge potential for overclocking (if properly done, an opty 146 can match fx 57). they are also pretty cheap. anyone having an opty 146/144, kindly tell me from where to source it. Or should i stick with athlons (which are still pretty expensive)?

twinmos opposed to 3200XL's....cmon man....these go like crazy...I'm using 512*4 of these in 1 P4 sys and I know.... Twinmos may be good but its crap compared to these.....1 am doing DDR 400 @ 2-2-2-5 stock no changes whatsoever...

Z5300 underpowered??? Maybe if u try them in an open field :P .... OK want something more try the Z5500D....now if this is underpowered accd to u then you're on the wrong planet mate....Got em both.. and the Z5300 is a steal for its cost 10K...
Use em both with all the options (2.1 select, bass redirect etc etc... then comment please) ;)

Mid range is better on the Z5500, in fact the Z5300's bass drowns out the rest but only in 2.1 mode...all OK in 5.1 mode...The Z5500D has a better bass redirection as far as i've noticed (crossover is more accurate)...and even the tweeter sounds better...

but I am talking 20K and 10K here....difference ain't there bro...???

Another thing pal...what's wrong with the neo power? I found it good...runs 1 gig ram, P4 660, X800XT, 2 dvd burners, 3 HDD's well....wat more could u ask for??

Plus AMD's consume less powa right?? :P

Now a 550 true control is costly...wanted it but 3K more sorry...:bleh:

I have given my suggestions / opinions based on the items posted by rPOK above (except for the psu). i do not see any corsair rams there only generic hynix / Kingston. and imho twinmos would be a better alternative to them (viz-a-viz price and performance) especially if he manages to get cl 2.5 rated ones.
comparitively speaking (within the domain of logitech only) Z5500 are much better than Z5300 but the price of Z5500 is atrocious here in India. There are very good alternatives avialable from different brands and rPOK will be well adviced to go and "actually" hear and listen to the speakers before buying. never buy speakers on the basis of anybody's suggestion or opinion as sound is very subjective. you can short-list the popular and suggested models but in the end let your own ears decide which one you want to buy.

RE: sourcing of opty , there are few posts on TE regarding interested members wanting to sell their opty 144. contact them , bargain a bit, and you can get them.

i am looking for NEW optys. Since many of you already have one, do tell me from where you sourced it. Should i wait for 265 prices to come down or should i buy 146?
