I am using broadband connection of airtel on 1 computer but now want to use 2 computers . So how will the connection work for both the computers?

Apart from switch you can get a Wifi Router to do the same. I suppose Airtel themselves provide one for 500 bucks. I suggest you enquire with them.

Edit: Oops i suppose with computer you meant by desktop..sorry..my bad.

i guess u can connect both computers via lan and then u can use net on the 2nd computer also

If you have the Beetel 220BX modem, you can connect one computer via the LAN port an the other via the USB. They both work. However, you will have to configure you modem to dial in the connection for you in this case.

The easy way - Get a wifi router. You can ask Airtel, or get one yourself. Its pretty easy to set it up.

To summarize, you have three options:

1. If your modem has a Ethernet port AND an USB port, connect each port to separate PCs. You'll need Ethernet cable and USB cable which usually comes along with the modem box. This approach maynot involve any expenditure.

2. Buy a wifi modem. Install wifi cards on one/both PCs. Costliest approach.

3. Buy an Ethernet switch. A for port switch should suffice. Connect the two PCs and the modem to the switch using three Ethernet cables. May have to shell out a couple of hundred bucks.

THnx all for ur suggestions. I am currently using USB modem having only one USB port and noLAN port. If i get BEETEL 220BX modem from airtel thn it shld solve the problem as suggested by you all. Will airtel charge for it?and wht will be the formality to get it?

just call up the CC guys... but they would charge Rs1000 for the 220BX modem. They will install the router and have your second desktop configured....
