Got the 6600GT card and also installed BF2.My OS is windows XP SP2,after I started the game,it crashes to my desktop with the following msg..

"This application has failed to start because d3dx9_25.dll was not found.Re-installing the application may fix the problem."

Oh yeah,my directx is 9.0b,though after dloading the 9.0c version and many repeated tries of installing it and re-installing the directx again,it still remains as 9.0b .

I' so desperate tht I would even jump off a cliff to get this game working and if there is any place to get this file,pretty pls post it here(today is be kind to animals week) and I dun wan't a rar file cause I dun have winrar.

and download the dll file unzip it, put it in any folder & double click it to install it & then play.

Thx for ur help guys but my system has become a mess right now (the same thing tht's gonna happen to the guy who installed the SP2).

I called another tech guy to reformat everything and install XP professional edition and he'll be arriving soon,apparently the XP SP2 has issues with directx 9.0c(this is really making me insane) and since I badly wanna play bf2,I have no other choice but to reformat and install just the professional edition.

i Use WinXP Pro with SP1 slipstreamed, and Autopatcher latest edition ....perfectly safe dont use firewalls, dont use antivirus....

the copy u have, is it slipstreamed Windows xp SP2? coz some of such copies have issues with DX, best way is to install windows xp and then install SP2, which is very helpfull if u need the full USB 2.0 support and stuff, if not, then SP1 will make no difference

So is having SP1 ok or is it just better to have the winXP PRO edition?

This is only for playing bf2(I mostly use WIN2000 since tht's where most of my games r installed)

Btw,wht abt the XP Home Edition?

get windows xp with SP1 if SP2 is giving you problem,will fix the dx issue for sure...

don't mean to hijack the thread but i'm on slipstreamed sp2 and i've had no problems so far but i'm planning to format soon. are there any real problems with sp2 for me to avoid it? i use the computer mainly for gaming and video editing.

In the first CD... Look in the Direct x folder... The files are there... Just install the DX or copy those files... It will work... And yes... Next time buy original :bleh:

Which cd?unless u mean the bf2 install disc,I tried installing the dx but the it still pretty much remained the same version of dx 9.0b and did not convert to dx 9.0c.

may be u got sp2 beta version ... only sp2 final version has the 9.0c .. and if u use beta .. u may not be able to upgrade from 9.0b (not directly actually .. unless theres some work around).

a number of games will not run untill u have 9.0c

just uninstall sp2 or upgrade to a final version.

I guess I must be using the beta version but does tht mean even if I use the dx remover,it would still be as 9.0b no matter what?

Sorry for the double post,but my prob is solved and bf2 is working fine .Now all I need to know is which update to download cause there r 3 and some of em r having probs.One guy told me to just update it to directly the latest version 1.12,would like to confirm this and anyone having updated their bf2 without any probs pls reply.
