Graphic Cards Hi all, need tip about which GC

Hi all, i am planning to buy a new card for me. i am almost more than a casual gamer. i play games like nfs carbon, stalker, doom 3 etc. now i have a geforce 6200 tc 256 MB PCI E card. but i feel its not at all good as i cant even play some games like carbon even at minimal settings. so should i go for a dx 9 card or dx 10? my budget is only within Rs.8000. i am really confused that there are some good dx 9 card in my budget level but the -ve is they are not dx 10.:( please recommend me some cards and where can i buy them in india.and also please tell about their price. thanks in advance.
 
Actually it's difficult to make a call, from what we've seen from the benchies so far the 8600gt/s won't be able to handle the directx10 games well at medium high resolutions ... also there is no game right now which is directx10 exclusive ... so you may as well settle down for a directx9 card like 7900GS or X1950 pro imo

Not to mention even the 8800GTX just got owned in DX10 Company of Heroes.

An HD2600XT will a good low budget DX10 card really. Surely better than the crappy 8600GT/GTS.
 
Honestly, Ive lost trust in the 8800GTX's power currently. Thus the complete Architecture as well.. That includes to 8600GTS.

COH.. 90FPS @ Almost fullsettings @ DX9. Same Settings DX10, 25FPS.

Great going nVidia :eek:hyeah:...
 
Ati doesn't fare any better ... infact much worse atm :bleh:

Atleast ATI is currently down completely in DX9 and DX10.

Its just driver issues. Plus, theyve gone ahead with a Unified architecture, which nVdia avoided, because im sure they knew, this would be the outcome.

I still support ATi. Even though im looking at buying a 8 Series card, I still have faith in ATi to come out on Top at the end.

Remember FX Series DX9 performance vs. ATi 9000 Series?

You should also remember how ATi's 9800Pro came and wh00ped nVidias 4$$.
 
Yeah ATI was really good with the last 2 generations of graphics card ... infact I had used the 9800pro for over a couple of years ... evn the R700 has great specs on paper somehow it doesn't deliver in the games so far ... though I'm sure the R650 and R700 will get ATI back to the top

I have doubts as of now whether its just a driver issue as things seems to be gettin out of hand.
 
well let us give this poor guy a break and give him tips for a card which comes in his budget...please argue in my A Tough choice to make thread ......:)........k bro.....i would recommend a 8600GTS coz i dont know whether you are ok with waiting for the 2600XT and seeing how better it is......and can any people with 86GTS see whether this guys current PSU is upto the mark ?????

u r right but u sure 8600GTS will fit in his budget. it 15k+ in india.. and 8600GT is a waste of money..

and again if he has any 300/350W local PSU then it is not going to work again..

dont know 2600xt price...
 
wait a sec.....did i mention a 86gts ??? ohhh sorry...i meant a 86gt......well yeah u r rite indeedy......it aint too good......would suggest a x1950pro ....but its slightly off the budget i think...
 
thanks for replies guys. but 8600gts is way too high for my budget. also ati 1950, as is costs more than 10k. but i am well below 8k. and can someone tell me price of 7900gs and ati's Radeon HD 2600XT . also place where i can get it. i am from a place near mangalore in karnataka doing my BE. also i am now having second thoughts that i can settle for a geforce 7600 gt as i can get it for Rs.6800 in bangalore. what do you say friends?
 
The 7900GS should be 8-8.5K oe maybe even lower imo.:)

Up from a 6200TC, it should be good enough for you i think.:p

Had received a quote from a dealer a couple of weeks back for a pc for a frnd and it mentioned 8.5K for the 7900GS- no mention of the brand though but i think its most probably Sparkle.
Will check and report back.:cool2:
 
Sorry mate ... looks like the dealer quoted 8.5k for the X1950 GT and not Pro still it's a good card and comes with 512mb , it performs better than the 7900GS in some games and losses out in some
