The 7900GS should be 8-8.5K oe maybe even lower imo.:)

Up from a 6200TC, it should be good enough for you i think.:p

Had received a quote from a dealer a couple of weeks back for a pc for a frnd and it mentioned 8.5K for the 7900GS- no mention of the brand though but i think its most probably Sparkle.

Will check and report back.:cool2:

i think the 7900gs is around 10k as the MOTM :) said ....... u can go for the 1950gt if u r getting it for that price..

Our friendly neighbourhood or distant dealer is just a phone call away.:p

Its good to check up before making any statements.:)

Because if the 7900GS is a better card for the same or lil more or lil lesser price, you just advised something wrong to someone.

(I have no idea about which card is better and others who are sure may advise/suggest suitably- was just pointing out the price.:cool2:)

Those interested may call up the dealer on the phone number mentioned in the second pic.:cool2:

Chill dude- nothing personal.:)

I am sorry coz i sound too dry and harsh in the above post coz i am sleepy, groggy and was lazy to go thru all that.:p

Usually Mumbai has the highest rates and i was wondering how- But as i said, those prices might be for 'Sparkle'.:cool2:

Both the cards will require power through a 6 pin connector ... a PSU with 26amps on 12v is recommended for the 7900gs and 30amps for the ATi ... something like powersafe 500 would handle it I guess though it's recommended to get the cm 600w/seventeam 500w for 3.5/4k

will this work?

Zebronics ZEB-500W Platinum -

Specs:

+12V:17A

+5V: 38A

+3.3V: 28A

+5Vsb: 2A

-12V: 0.8A

-5V: 0.5A

20/24-Pin ATX12v

Is it powerfull or just enough or a crap? help me

To power that thing...nope you can't

I think the Powersafe 500 for around 2.5k might be able to handle the loads, look for something thats around 25A+ on 12V rail

^^ Problem is, even if you find something with 25A on the Rail, its mostly not true.

You need a brand that is trustable. Powersafe is.

Now, if you find a Frontech 400W PSU for 1000 bux, claiming it has Dual 12V Rails, with 16A each, do you think so? lol..

All very true and exactly why one must go for reputable brands especially when dealing with Power/Electricity not just in Computers but day to day life too.

:) Thanks for the help guys. now i think i would better go for an xfx 8600Gt. it costs around 7.8k now. i would have gone for a 7900GS, but it costs the same as 8600GT, but with that i will have to invest on a PSU which will atleast cost me around 2.5k.
so if i go for 7900gs - 7.5k+2.5k = 10k minimum
or 8600GT - 8k maximum.
so i opt for the latter. i have a mercury 400W stock PSU, whether my plan will work friends?

PS: i can still wait for one month before i purchase the card, but i have heard that ati 2600 cards are not as good as 8600GT for gaming. so i have decided to go with 8600GT.

Err...you are gonna need a better PSU to power the 8600GT m8, the Mercury 400W just will not handle it.

Get the Powersafe 500 Gold or something on the similar lines, reputed brands though.

And 8600GT for that price is awesome, it might not be as good as a 7900GS but the DX10 compatibility and near 7900GS performance is a no brainer, esp for that price.

are you sure that it will need a better PSU? i am asking this becuase 8600gt doesn't require an extra power connector, isn't it? if it does then i think i'll have to settle for a second hand 7600GT for about 1.5 year as a temporary card. will it be ok? i just want to run games at medium settings(games like doom3, fear,AOE 3, i dont play oblivion).

i have a second hand Winfast Leadtek 7600GT in sight here in TE for 5.9k. is it worth the money, please help guys.

Guys I am currently using the stock Zebronics 400W that I got with my cabinet. Not saying that its brilliant but I am able to support the Pentium 955Extreme (yes, it a hot ......), 3 SATA drives, 1 optical drive, an Ageia PhysX card, an X-Fi and 7900GTX or the 1900XTX that I have.
The 8 series drinks power a lot less than the 7 series or the 1xxx series. You should be fine...
But no doubt...I do want to replace my PSU.

But my rig is just:

1. AMD 3000+ venice 754 socket

2. ASUS K8 VM board

3. A sata HD, an IDE HD, One DVD writer thats all.

So will an 8600GT work on my pc?
