hHi

My System MSI GE 620dx a gaming laptop.

Due to Blue screen problem, service centre guys replaced HDD and RAM. Also they installed Win 7 Utlimate.

After this whenever i do hibernation it is taking around 4-5 min of time to do this process and during the period the fan sound is increased very much (like playing very high end game). For normal tasks which i do i never heard of fan sound .

Otherwise its fine.. like shutdown is normal only problem is with hibernation.

Can anyone tell why this problem. IS this because of OS or hardware? Please suggest.

Download Sysinternals RamMap, open it and empty standby list before you hibernate.

It will clear out the RAM from unused files and will help you to hibernate faster.

Thanks sunnyboi for the suggestion.

I tried this method but still it is taking same amount of time with fan speed very high. Are there any other solutions?

Hi,

try disabling hibernation & re-enabling it after reboot.

To do this launch Command Prompt as admin, type in "powercfg -h off" Restart then after boot go back into command prompt & run "powercfg -h on"

Also let me know what programs do you leave running when you hibernate

I tried what disabling and enabling the hibernation mode. It was better than before like fanspeed is bit reduced and time was improved but still taking atleast 2-3 mins compared to before of 4-5 mins.

Well i keep open opera browser and sometimes word dcouemnts (1 or 2).. The reason i do hibernation is boot time is very much reduced compared to fresh start.

a few more things you can try.

Start MSConfig and disable any startup apps you don't need on windows boot, this will ensure that during hibernation less amount of data is to be saved from memory.

Try to save & close documents before Hibernation, its not a good idea to leave those running.

Clean Up Boot Drive by running CCleaner and defrag the drive.
