Well, i got this new Athlon 880G rig almost a month ago, but lately was facing a new problem.

Sometimes while playing stuff on the TV, the audio would stop for a second or two, and resume later. So thought that it was because i did not have enough RAM, so decided to add 2GB more. Still the issue persisted. So went about disabling unwanted programs, like CCC.exe, MOM.exe etc.... Still no change in system.

So went about googling for info, and found the DPC latency tool @ DPC Latency Checker

On running it, found that occasionally it would spike to ~1000 microseconds and higher. Also it was always in the range of 100~300 us. The program also mentioned that the device drivers might be the culprit.

So went about disabling all the devices like the onboard LAN, audio, USB3, IEEE1394 (via bios) and even went to the extent of disabling the USB2 ports too(via device manager only) and checking as to the reason for the spikes. Still spike were present. Then went about updating the drivers, still no change. Did not upgrade the BIOS, that is the next in my list to do.

Eventually i had run out of options, and was staring helplessly at a BIOS upgrade as the only possibilty. Then by some stroke of luck stumbled upon Guru3D.com Forums - View Single Post - AMD Catalyst Von modded.

Bang, problems solved! By disbling HPET in the BIOS, the DPC came below 75, and would just occasionally spike to 100+, but not above 500!
