I've been having the BBG Speed Combo 2799 plan for some time now. Up till now I haven't paid any interest to online gaming. But now, I find that the ping of my connection is very high (around 300 ms). For online gaming this is really a downer :(.

Packet loss is occasionally high (as shown in this test) but it is 0% eight-tenths of the time.

Is there any way at all to solve the high ping problem? I thought of contacting BSNL but I doubt if they will even know what is ping :-[. Am I stuck with this ping for eternity or is there any possible solution?

Also I can't switch to Airtel or any other ISP as I live on the city outskirts (Salem, TN).

Try to connect to local servers. BSNL pings have actually improved from 350ish to 250ish over last couple of months :D

I play quakelive on german servers and at that ping its barely playable but better than nothing, I guess.

Yeah it's always 250ish nowadays. Hope they improve it further.

Also I get less than 100 ms ping for both Mumbai and New Delhi so that isn't a problem.

Well, considering us big city folk don't get much better pings that that I'd say you don't have any option.

Same issue here...around a year back I was having amazing fun at online games.

But from the last 6 months...Its hard to play even on indian servers:(

Am on MTNL Triband 2Mbps Mumbai....... COD4 ping to UK,FR,GER is arnd 140-150ms which is excellent...... US is arnd 200-250ms......

Am on BSNL myself and my pings are very high as well, and as i play a lotta online games it really sucks for me. Also there is no option for any other ISP rather than BSNL in my area as i am pretty far from the main city, so its a double downer for me.

Ping under 90ms on my BSNL BB connection at Chandigarh, distance of exchange 3km, plan BB HM 500. You fellas can try local servers for optimal results.

:bump: :help:

My ping has gone to 350ish :(.

Looks like a viable to way to play online games is to get a cheap 3g connection and make sure steam doesn't download updates on it.

Can't anyone help me? :(

its good here only but after connecting to some online game server it gets deteriorated

people with high pings are laughing stock of online gaming community. Majority are us Indians.

even gamers from Russia & portugal have ping less than 50.

@OP is it possible to start a poll in this thread for ping times in the range 0-50, 50-100 and so on
