+1 to Hitachi.

Using one 500GB for last two years after my first Seagate 500GB failed - peace of mind.

Don't have any experience regarding A S S though.
Unlike you i made the mistake of buying not one but 3 WD blue drives after my seagate failed :(

Does Neoteric handle RMA for Hitachi Drives for sure??

And do they ask for a Bill or do they do it only based upon Serial number??

Since we are discussing reliability of HDD's here, I thought I'll chime in.

As part of my job, we have tested almost every HDD form factor from every single manufacturer for their reliability for use in defense applications. Seagate Enterprise Editions HDD's trumped all others in terms of absolute reliability in adverse conditions. It costs more than their desktop counterparts but if you don't have a habit of residual backup but still value your data, Seagate Enterprise Drives are the ones you should look at. We have a few of these drives running 24x7 (with constant read/writes) for more than 6 years at a stretch (never switched off or spun down).

^ Would be nice to see how the other drives you tested stack up :)

One downside to the Seagate ES drives is that they cost ~4 times their desktop equivalents. So us poor consumers end up just buying 2 desktop drives to set up in a RAID instead.
