I need a 5.1 speaker system for my DVD player. I was initially looking at Logitech z5500. Yesterday I say Onkyo HT-S3100 which comes with 5.1 speakers and an amplifier/receiver.

ONKYO SIGHT & SOUND INDIA

Specs look great for onkyo system. Price in eZone is 19990/- and logitech is 17990/-

Which one would be a better choice for a DVD player (Logitech/Onkyo)? And any better prices for Onkyo?

well i have z5500 using it for my PC and it is good for me as i never take it for more than 60% of it volume. i dono quality of Onkyo.
here on TE you might receive mixture of opinion... everybody has different opinion for Bass. but better you take your fav music in pen drive or buy audio CD or DVD and take the demo. keep in mind room size and positioning of the speakers.... and you decide yourself.

I have the exact same model of the Onkyo. Its great VFM!!

You can always replace the fronts with better bookshelves/towers later

Onkyo sounds really great. Professional DVD and audio amps. you can go for it.
