Hey Fellas,

This is my first post here, right after i found the URL of this site through google. :eek:hyeah:

I am from Delhi, and hopefully setting up a home theatre in my big ROOM (so it would be room cum theatre).

Now, I am very confused in the SOUND PART and want to take a final decision in setting up my first Personal Theatre cum Room.

This is the right section+place to get expert's suggestions i guess ? Yeah !!

Now, Lets get this thing started. oKay, here we go......!

ok so firstly,
My Room is 12x6 ! I AM NOT SURE .. I WILL LET U GUYS KNOW ABOUT IT IN A DAY OR 2 .

secondly, for HTPC im gonna use my xps 1530 :) or thinking to get popcourn hour/TVIX HD M-7000A ...need some suggestions here :) better option ? i currently have up 2 500 gigz of HD movies.

thirdly, projector :- 720p/1080p ! better,much diff ?? again need suggestion here too :)

fourthly, as for the screen i want to go for either carada criteron 2:05 to 1 (144inches) or 2.35 to 1 (133inches) better ? or any other cheap n equally good brand ?

fifthly, speakers and receiver ? receiver - denon AVR-4308CI or onkyo tx-nr905. better ?????? :mad:

speakers - ? combination of dynaaudio ? or what do you guys suggest ?

cabling charges ?

my budget is upto 2-2.5 lakhs.

So fellas, what are your suggestions ? i want the best for my $$$$$ !

^^Neither of those will drive Dynaudios well. You need serious muscle amps for dyns and AVRs won't do. Where are you located? If you are in bangalore, I strongly suggest you take a look at Usher.

For VFM projectors, look at Mitsubishi.

Edit: Just read your post again and I see you mention Delhi. In that case I'd say stick to Dyns but get a pre-power combo.

The HC series is awesome. Just choose the model that fits your budget. HC1500 is really good vfm.

I am delhi so let me know where you live so I can come over and rob you (I'll be nice no guns I swear).

Lol, come to the meet on 24th; U'll have over 2TBs of HD stuff; :bleh:
 
From where do you plan to get screen from? Asking because I will also be doing a setup at home in few months time.

Get Mitsubishi 720p projector, a good value for money! But I guess your budget is broad, so you may go for Samsung 720p projector. If you really want to be future-safe then you need to buy 1080p ones.
 
If you lack basic knowledge, then its better to stay away from projectors, HTPC etc.

Simply go for a large plasma/lcd and connect it with some decent HTiB (Home Theater in Box) package - it includes DVD Player and speaker set. Sony/Philips offer many such HTiB packages. Once you gain confidence, you can again upgrade after 2-3 years.
