How Amazon product delivery system works? (shipping from same city takes 24 hours to 8+ days)

Ordered phone cover for mom on Monday 20th November around 10am.
Status updated on 21st November at 11:40 am order picked up by courier and a delivery tracking ID is given.

As per tracking website, courier has not picked up product.
Shipping city appears Indore..

My past purchases got delivered next day even when ordered from same city.

Can someone kindly explain to understand how this Amazon delivery system works?
Same cover was available with other sellers for next day delivery but price was 50 more (no shipping charges)

I think you should look at the promised delivery date. It doesn't matter where it is getting shipped from, it will barely ever reach you before delivery date.

Since they have promised delivery date for almost all products these days, even if a product reaches the nearest hub early, they cannot send it out since they already have enough parcels for the same day.

Apart from this, I guess most people will already know that there are two types of shipments, one is Amazon fulfilled and one is directly fulfilled by the seller. Seller fulfilled items will usually never reach very fast as it is like a normal courier. Amazon fulfilled items are already in Amazon's godown. So they are delivered faster, especially if the godown is close by.
