Time to get a new psu, actually generic 300w isnt recommended at all with 9800/6600gt level cards. Sooner or later i takes the toll on the card or the system.

Edit: Are you facing problems with the systems like crashing, BSODs etc.

Terrible, bad, manageable?

pathetic, get a new psu asap as you are facing problems with ur pc ( minor artifacts that u are talking about)

Yep, the crashing started today. Not bsod's but games hardlock, sometimes they can be end-task'ed out while sometimes not so much.
The artifacts went away once I cleaned the psu fan.

These hardlocks are damn weird! Read on...

I had assumed all games must be crashing; but upon testing many others, it seems only 2 games are crashing and under very particular conditions.

Live for Speed - can drive for hours and hours without any problems, but hardlocks in under a minute if I use the external sweep camera.
(Note that during this I can still control the car as I can hear the throttle and horn sounds when I press the respective buttons. Only the display locks up.)

Richard Burns Rally - hardlocks if I stay in the game menus too long, otherwise it's alright.

wtf :S

All other games working alright.
RTHDRIBL runs perfectly.

usually if game is hardlocking and you are able to ctrl+alt+del and end games its not power problem. Its something else.

As far as those voltages goes, +5v line is out of specifications, rest two are still managable if they are not fluctuating too much.

Run rthdribl for couple of hours and check if system is crashing or not and also see what are voltages.

The +12v keeps fluctuating btwn 11.612 to 11.830 every few seconds.
The +5v rail fluctuates but not that much, between 4.7 to 4.8.

ctrl-alt-del works only half the time. btw I never lose mouse control during these lockups (even if ctrl-alt-del didn't work).

Will run rthdribl for an hour and see if it locks up. Although nothing happened the 10-15min that I played around with it.

Weird that a game should crash only in the external cam view and be totally fine in cockpit view.

i will say get a 400w powersafe that will be enuf for ur configuration ... this PSU can damage ur PC ....

oh boy!!!! that is bad :P .....

I would feel bad if you stoped playing GTR in case your card died or something :P

Get a new PSU ASAP

Ran RTHDRIBL for an hour with the window maximized + 2xaa and didn't face any stability issues.

Anyway, fixed both the problems. They were issues with the games themselves.

LFS seems to have a problem with it's own aggressive LOD management of distant objects usually visible only in the external cams.
Set them back to default and it doesn't crash anymore in those views.

As for the RBR freezes, it was a known issue.
Sound acceleration needs to be turned down a notch in dxdiag.

A decent psu is top priority as soon as I get some cash to spare.

Anyone want to buy a Hynix D43 512mb stick? It's old but in mint condition (and I mean mint, even the transperant cellophane stickers haven't lost their shine).
