So I managed to delete 3 days worth of downloads :ohyeah: The recovery software is trying its best right now, lets see how much it can get back.

To prevent this in the future, can I disable "shift delete" on my download folder?

Been using shift for over 10yrs now :P Don't want to go back to the stupid "empty recycle bin" thing
Well that like a shell behaves.
Hotkeys are global to a shell, either you can have it or can't have.
Try some freewares to alter the Hotkeys in windows or get a new shell.

I dont think so.

Basic hotkeys cannot be disabled unless you stop pressing them :P

Besides, happened once with me too after remembering I deleted 1 file extra

Installed and started file scavenger the next minute and the file was easily recovered in 10 secs

If you disable the shift + delete, you will have to follow the empty recycle bin thing anyways  So make your choice

Remove the shift key from the keyboard and open recycle bin properties, click on the check box "Do not move files to recycle bin":D

This way you can avoid using shift key+frequently visiting recycle bin.

AFAIK,I don't think there is any app to disable it.

Try PC inspector to recover data, remember using it long back and did a pretty decent job on recovering deleted files.

You must have done it on purpose :P You never lose any data afaik. :)

no man ... not on purpose... downloaded in utorrent and after I got message download completed I immediately deleted the files in utorrent without checking that the files had actually got written to HDD. Seems utorrent has a few seconds lag of writing file to HDD after download is completed. :(

Try out DataRecovery - it is quite good for recovering deleted files if done before file gets overwitten.
