the easiest is to get an external tuner....If u have a LCD monitor, specifically ask for LCD specific tuners that let you change the output resolution....

The tuner will have a VGA out and will allow for RCA in....

just feed the yellow RCA jack from the PS2 there, hook up speakers to the Red & White RCAs, switch tuner to the RCA in mode and ur done....

But you won't get any incremental advantage over playing on a TV....

In fact a TV is better suited for the PS2

'tis OK only as long as You want to do it for kicks, or wanna free up the family TV

Wont i get a better resolution ?

Do we have to insert the monitor wire in the tuner first ?
And can i hook up the cabletv at the same time ?so that i can watch the cabletv also on the monitor !

BTW Thanx ur help is appreciated !

I don't think u'll get better resolutions.

It doesn't which wire you insert first....you only have to make sure that you've inserted all of them.

You can watch cable TV with same tuner...you'll have to keep swapping the cables of the PS and the TV....or you cud buy switch kind of thing available in local electronics store that lets you connect both and u cud switch between them.

What does he need a TV tuner for? All that's needed is a high quality VGA adapter.
Keep in mind that that it won't look nearly as good as on a TV, the uber high resolutions that monitors work at will do nothing to mask the low resolution, jaggies and blurry textures.

Cool it mate :P

Don't turn this thread into another raging flame war :P

Live and let live

BTW I suggested a TV tuner as external TV tuners for CRTs come for as low as 1000/- and they do a very good job of doing a RCA-VGA conversion....

Good quality VGA adapters may be hard to come by in the local markets, and mmay be inordinately expensive too being a niche product :)

Nah but he is stating the obvious, if the family TV is occupied then rather get a small TV than play the ps2 on the PC monitor.

Better to let him know beforehand as high quality VGA adapters are costly. And it would be of no use wasting money on one when it's already looking best on TV.
If you're having problems with TV time, bring out the old 14".

Guys iam moving to Hostel where a TV is not allowed ! But a PC is ! Thats why iam asking that !!

expect interlacing problems - will make reading text in games and fast action games very difficult to play on the monitor... unless of course your tuner card comes with a hardware/software filter to reduce/eliminate the interlacing artefacts.
