How can one differ between UTP 5E Solid cable and stranded cable.

Hi all,
Is there a visual test or way that one can differentiate between SOLID cable and stranded cable ? Any pictures or video links would be nice. I'm guessing the SOLID cable would be tag pricier than the stranded one.

Another sub-query, apart from D-Link and Finolex (brands that I know of), are there any other brands worth looking into for UTP CAT 6 ?
 
Stranded cable will be more flexible. But the only way to confirm is to look at the exposed wire itself. Solid core cable is more common, so I don't think it would be more expensive.
