PC Peripherals How capable is Corsair VX 550?

Hi!
I would like to know if the corsair vx 550 can handle the following components:-
Amd x6 1090t/later versions of amd cpus
Msi 880gma-e45 motherboard
4gb/8gb ddr3 1600 ram
4 harddrives 1Tb each
Ati 5850/Nvidia gtx 460
dvd writer
4-5 cooling fans

Or should I opt for a slightly more powerful coolermaster gx 650 which retails for the same price and offers the same 5 years of warranty as the corsair vx 550?
 
I'd suggest the VX550. It can easily power that rig although I would go with something better keeping in mind any possible future upgrades.

Besides, Corsair customer support is unmatched. :)
 
I bought a VX 550 a few months back and it runs my system great. I think it should run the components you posted just fine. :)
 
you should go for corsair VX 550

a friend in my area has this psu and its a very powerful psu

i am sure it will be able to handle your rig

and +1 to desecrator -

corsair support is also very good

Mention his system specs along so it helps the buyer judge the potential of the power supply.

ok so here is the specs which my friend has -

phenom x4 cpu

790 gigabyte mobo

4gb ram

3 x 1tb hdd's

he will be buying a 5850 soon this week

3-4 fans

and the latest versions of the cpu i.e 6 cores one has low tdp so they consume less electricity right ?

correct me if i am wrong
 
VX550 is a good robust PSU.

It should handle
