I need to block a number. A consumer number.
How do i do it without going to the operator's office?
There is no blocking feature in my N79 phone nor does DND/1909 work.
Please help. Urgent.

Install MCleaner. The best of all blacklisters/blockers.

Wish something similar should had been there for android but android sucks on that part. Android requires root for every mute. And logically speaking such simple tasks shouldnt require root.

wait there isnt a option to block calls on Android!?!?!?

Lucky i am on iphone.

Truecaller can block calls on Android ... but it has its demerits too.
My (and every other) S6 has the feature inbuilt ... :)

Not sure why you think you need root for blocking callers on android. Just add the number to reject list. AFAIK, Its a basic feature available in stock android and its available in most of the custom builds as well. Just check your phone.

If you also install Truecaller you have the added benefit that numbers that are overwhelmingly marked as spam are automatically blocked for you.

Truecaller etc all needs internet all the time. NO offline foolproof app as of yet. Failure of android till date.

Manually rejection is ok but what if we just wanna accept our phone book contacts and block completely other spam calls not in our phonebook?

Good luck getting online orders delivered to your address. You won't even hear from friends or any known people using new numbers. Not sure if that is a good idea.
I'd prefer something which lets me manually enter a number and LO, blocked! Using only cellular network, not something online. But from the discussion so far there doesn't seem to be any good one.

N79 is a Nokia Symbian phone! Not android! :D

Truecaller doesn't need to be online for rejecting calls, you only need online to know if the number is a known spam number or not.
Even in tht case that is just one rejection and then spam free from that number forever.

Still there isnt any concrete solution on android for this very basic necessity.

A simple blacklister/blocker should possess foll. features:
Just accept phonebook call/sms
Reject specific nos. from call log/sms log
Custom add no. series like MD/TD or 58766 etc.
Finally, it should be platform independent irrespective of your phone model/make/root/non-rrot etc.

Symbian used to rock n roll on above factors.

Android does not need root privilege for call blocking. I use Calls Blacklist by Vlad Lee.
You can add numbers from call log and contacts. But specifying number series isn't possible.
Works very well for me.

DND still doesn't work on my number. I'm getting error "something something busy."
