am getting this error since somedays.

even when i delete it, it comes back after some hours.

wanted to know a safe way to remove this permanently.

you'll need to get rid of the restore point.. since the infected file is in your sytem restore files.. deleting the restore history should fix it..

disable system restore..remove any removable drives you have...goto safe mode & do a full system scan. Why do u have system restore enabled anyways..??

Dear Stormblast,

When faced with a similar situation (different virus though) here is what I did:
a) Turned off system restore on all my disc drives.
b) Ran a full virus scan using NOD 32.
c) Removed/quaranteed any virus found.
d) Turned on system restore again.

You may lose your previous restore points (so do exercise your discretion). I didnt care as I just wanted the virus GONE!!

Also may not work with the virus you have but I guess its worth a try

ok ive done whatever everyone has suggested. nod dint find the virus doing a full scan after disabling system restore. lets hope it doesnt popup again.

as long as u dont need the restore points...

Disable sytem restore. enable viewing system files nd folders from the explorer folder options menu. delete restore files. If it doesn let u delete, u might have to go to security settings for the folder nd take ownership...

I suppose it's a little late :( but you could have temporarily changed the permissions on volume information directory on D... this way the virus protection could have deleted the culprit and you would not have lost restore points.
