How do I restore data from a formatted ??? Urgent

Hi..

Now well my 1 TB hdd got formatted....

Now i tried a bunch of softwares now they all show a list of files to be recovered..

But i have to recover them to some other HDD... which is impossible... because i do not have another 1 tb hdd to recover it too..
the hdd had around 900 gigs of data.. and may be 30 gb free space..[which had old deleted data..]

Now plzz suggest me as software which will recover my data to the hdd in the same state it was before..
That is all the files/folders s they were before on the same hdd.. coz im running the OS on the 80gb drive that i have..

I have my entire data on that hdd every single thing.. and it is recoverable.. so please help me out..

Plzz suggest any software that will do so...

I have tried.. icare system restore and easeus data recovery but they recover data to another hdd..

Plzz plzz help.. im shit scared.. :(

You do not have any other option other than to borrow an external/internal HDD to recover all the data to. You cannot recover data to the same drive 'coz the recovered data will overwrite already existent data, and recovery will become a failure. In short, if you want to recover all data completely, buy or borrow a new HDD and recover to it.

@Kuantum: Read his query before suggesting additional software blindly.

testdisk should rebuild partition. i've done it before...

safest bet is to use another backup device...

Actually ultimate boot cd is what screwed me.. i got Dbanned.. military nuked.. :(

Thanfully i was able to recover Important docs, all my images and ALMOST other imp stuff..

Now all my multimedia stuff remains.. 500 -600 gigs... i hope i get a hdd soon... other wise 3 yrs of stuff down the drain.. :(

@logistopath - As you know the data is already present there... i was wondering if could find a recylebin like software which would undelet/restore the data to its previous folders..

Hi,

As stated above by our friends, there isint no way u can backup onto the same hdd as it would result in a recovery failture, so the best thing to do is get a similar hdd and use the following

Active@ File Recovery for Windows
 
Ganesh has a used 1TB for sale on TE

Buy it, use it & then sell it again at slightly lower prices.

Your overall cost will be about 300-400 bucks considering the 2 times shipping etc. involved, in case you not in a position to beg borrow or steal a 1TB drive for a day.

Can anyone suggest a FREE tool which can restore whole deleted partition so all the data in that partition can be restored back ?
 
Is there anything FREE which can restore whole partition ? Dont want to recover data file by file. Whole partition recovery will be best.
 
i used DBAN to screw my HDD..

Actually i wanted to zero wipe only my 80gb partition.. i was reformatting after 1 year.. so went for total cleaning..

So i started dban from ubcd4win.. and clicked on one of the military nuke methods.. to my surprise it started nukin all of my hdds even my pendrive[from which i started ubcd..]

Man i was sooo screwed... ALL my personal stuff gone!! poof!! one mistake was all it took..

Now hopefully i can get a 500gb hdd from my frnd and i have 200 gb free space...

I have to give up on around 100 gigs of data but thats acceptable i was anyways going to wite it on dvds and del them from pc..

good news is that i recovered all my personal stuff... my fotos, my MUSIC, my documents etc etc...

Multimedia is all that is left... 3 years of week by week downloading.. almost down the drain..

whats more frustrating is i have to wait some time before i can get that disk.. till that time my 1tb is lying around useless. :@

arre.. the 1TB drive was my back up drive..

Trust me i have formatted pcs thousands of times...

I have even nuked hdd with WD diagnostic tool//

This was my first time nuking with DBAN unfortunately.. :(
