How do you get free gifts from eBay?

I see threads in the market section with members selling off gifts like pen drives to cameras they got from ebay. How do you get these? Is there a rewards system in place or something? For every x amount you spend you get y number of points? I couldn't find anything to that effect in my account summary.
 
Holy crap, I can't believe this, I just spent 16k this morning. Damn, I had no idea I could use a free gift code while paying.

Just my luck. :(
 
^ Currently there are no free gift offers. So you really didn't miss anything. These are seasonal offers and are announced at eBay's discretion.
 
I thought you could apply one of the codes while placing the order. What's the point of giving the codes otherwise?
 
i just called the help line & requested to send me a gift, they took my address & contact details & they will send me a gift in next 7 working days, when i asked what was the gift, they said its a "SURPRISE", hope its not a pink underwear :p

by making them feel privileged just because you're buying from them i guess...........OR you could just go "WAAAAHHHHH !!!!! I WANT A GIFT TOO" :bleh:

^^^ The link in my reply was just to serve as an example. Similar offers keep coming and going every few months. Just keep checking the ebay homepage once in a while or whenever a major festival is due in a short period of time.

i guess there will be a rakhi week on ebay for free gifts , just a wild guess
