I saw the SSD available on letsbuy :Buy Strontium SATA-II 60GB 2.5" Solid State Drive GAMMA Series at Best Price in India - Also find Specifications, Photos, Features & Reviews

After 15% off they can be bought at Rs 5200/- which I feel is a good deal .

What are your suggestion guys ??

I'm new to the SSD wagon and don't have much idea. But my budget is ~5k.

Is the company reliable?? Is the product reliable ?? If not, what alternatives I have in this price range... and NO, I cannot extend my budget...

I'm not sure how good it is, but I believe OCZ and Kingston are better with SSDs.

You can get an OCZ Vertex Plus 60gb for 5.2k and Kingston for 5.6k. (Price quoted from Prime's website)

Also do note, all these are SATA2 drives.

Actually you missed a great deal on the OCZ 60gb Vertex plus. Prime had a special deal the other day for 4650.

Amazingly PrimeABGB is still showing the splash page for the OCZ 60gb sale for 4650. But later it shows up as 5200. Call them up and request for the same price.

They are exactly like all other Sandforce based SSDs having 25nm chips. Slower than 3xnm SSDs. But then again they are targetted at budget conscious buyers.

The real problem for them is that they are new company and has nothing to offer that would differentiate them from options available from established players which costs same as them or even lesser.

No additional accessories as well, no converter bay bundle nothing.

Its not bad but its nothing special.

@Arun1: That means Strontium is faster ??

@Shripad: Thanks for the update. But looking at the price Rs 5200/- Are they worth buying , if not what alternative I have... Even I want to buy a known and renowned brand but in my budget only this is coming... Kindly suggest...

I read that OCZ vertex plus has:

Max Read: up to 185 MB/s

Max Write: up to 90 MB/s

whereas Strontium Gamma Series :

Maximum sequential read speed :280 Mbps

Maximum sequential write speed: 270 Mbps

That is huge difference ....

Yes, it will do its rated speed.

I have their 120GB drive which i got couple of days back and it does exactly what its rated at. 279Mbps read, 270mbps write. I just wish they had included the bay converter with the drive. How long it will last or how is the reliability of these drives is totally known factor.

^^ You mean the 115Gb right or do they have a 120Gb one too?

Apparently they are giving 3 years warranty, now can we take their word for it, idk.

@iq6886

The 115Gb at 9.9k with 15% discount comes to 8.4k.If you could negotiate it to a decent price with the guy selling it in the members market then I think you have a pretty good deal.

Strontium quality is quite ok but as shripad said its slower as it is 25nm drive.

I am using ram in laptop and its bought from prime.so far so good.finger crossed.

Yup, its actually 128gb physically with 115 available to the user thanks to how sandforce controller works.

Actually it comes to 8.9k from letsbuy. Remember that coupon is Rs.1000 max ;)

osx doesnot support trim i guess. so a kingston based ssd would be better. it has the best garbage collection ..

So what would be a better buy ??

Strotium 60GB @ Rs 5200 from letsbuy or OCZ Vertex plus 60 GB @ 5200 from primeabgb !!!!

I'm not still not clear about warranty of OCZ...
