PC Peripherals How good is VIP Gold 400/500 W ???

Hi everyone, the good folks here at TE had advised me to go for Gigabyte Superb 460w psu for my rig,
Athlon x2 2.6 Ghz,
Asus M2N68-AM,
Dynet 2 GB,
WD 160GB,
LG 17" CRT

But i couldnt find it anywhere in my city and instead a couple of dealers suggested that i go for VIP Gold 400/500 W, priced 1600 and 2200 respectively.... their other point is that since there is no service center in my city, its risky to go for Gigabyte...
can someone tell me if its worth it... or is Gigabyte the better shot..
And the gpu, i forgot, is a 8600GT...
 
Where are you from? You can always get it shipped from one of the TE dealers here. Regarding service, you can enquire about the same to the dealer before buying.
 
Yeah, the VIP Gold is a good buy. Have been using it for some time and no problems till date. If you’re looking at upgrading your comp any time in the future then look at nothing below Corsair VX450. Using it for my main PC for a year now and it gobbles up whatever I’ve thrown at it till now. Great PSU.
 
i ve been using the vip gold 500 for about a year and a half and i have a 4850.

it aint the best for the price but if you dont plan to upgrade in the near future i see nothing wrong with going for it.

but the gigabyte 460 is recommended
