As the title suggests ... how good is vx924 among all the 19inch lcd class .. i needs some serious pro info in this!
thanks in advance,
Joe

Viewsonic VX, VA, VE & Q Series Suck because they have 16.2M colours (6-bit+2-bit FRC) according to Viewsonic.

Viewsonic VP Series Rocks they have 16.7M colours (8-bit).

Buy any VP Series model ending with 20b or 30b they are the Best.

gosh!!!!!! bring me in light guys!! but dont u think its good for games considering its low response time and what about movies then?
i want best performance in movies as well as games!!

well unfortunately at the moment you cant have it all.

VX924 is excellent for gaming. But trash for watching movies. DVDs look horrible on it, seen it with my own eyes.

True 8 bit pannels on other hand are less responsive and cause ghosting.

VP930b is kinda the middlethinh you can go. Its excellent for movies, though it causes ghosting its not as bad as other 16ms monitors i have seen.

But again its not perfect for gaming, not even close to CRT gaming experience.

Ideally i would prefer 2 LCD setup, 1 fast gaming and 1 true 8 bit :P but that will put nice hole in the pocket :P

Or buy that LCD but keep CRT for gaming.

VP930b has 0 ghosting my cousin has played Quake 4 on it.

0 Ghosting.

I don't see any ghosting on my 924 either guys... Again my idea of how good this thing is its real world performance . Hell with Toms and whoever elses reviews...

I am yet to actually calibrate mine and all yet colors are excellent for gaming and yes I even watch the odd DVD. So not really sure what everybody else is complaining about......to hell with the world....

You wont realise the sluggishness and ghosting may times unless you play it yourself. Mind you for last 6 months i am going to my dealer every time some of his client buys the LCD monitor to check it out before they take delivery.

VP930b is less responsive that VX924, 924 is great gaming LCD, no doubt about it. And VP930b is best overall monitor i would say that i have seen.( just seen it la week or so ago). But the difference in responsiveness can be easily experienced. Play game like cs/NFS on VX924 and then play it on VP and you will immediately know the difference.

Mind you, different people have different experiences when it comes to noticing ghosting.

@ DK, man you are right, but just watch same DVD on say your player or CRT or true 8 bit monitor and you will notice difference in colour reproduction and dithering. hell i watch movies on my mobile phone and enjoy it, so i wont be surprised if people like watching movies on 6 bit pannel :P

But that does not mean its producing best results possible on LCD pannel.

goldie the lcd u have.. available here? by any chance?

what about going for a 17 inch lcd which have 4ms response time as well as 8 bit?
the 19 inch has huge advantages over 17 inch when it comes to display area?
widescreen 17 inch lcd's available?

Goldy has hyundai B90a.

Its still not true 8 bit pannel, its good ol TN + Film panel. In reality only 6 bit.

Its considered as the most value monitor in 19" catagory out there.

Never seen it personally so wont comment on it.

you have a 22k budget and there are no 19 inch 8-bit widescreen LCD panels in that budget.

Buy a Viewsonic VP720b when it comes in April.

Its 4ms & 8-bit.

dooooood....17 inch is little too small isnt it/.. and does this 6 bit 8 bit makes huge color diff? cuz someone told me it dont ..what r those smasung 770p ? and the 740n?

Just do search for TN pannels on google, you will get all info you need there.

6bit = 262K colours ideally. With dithering it gives 16.2 million colours, these are not perfect and it does not give perfect shades of colours and grey.

8bit = true 16.7 million colours. Thats gives full spectrum.

Visually there is difference, you wont notice it much while using desktop or it wont spoil your gaming experience. But in movies, it shows its limitations.

I watched Schindler's List DVD on vx924 and i couldnt watch it for more than 5 minutes while my cousine is fine with it. its personal choice man, i would always suggest you try to get demo of monitor before you buy it.

And 17" is not bad compared to say 17" crt. It actiually has 17" visible area, its more like 19" CRT.

Well, even though its not true 8bit.

Its pretty good.

Ive seen my frnds 15" Samsung Syncmaster (4got the model no.) 6bit panel walla. The really old one. Side by Side (Be brought it since we were making am movie)

And the colour reproduction on mine was a LOT better than his.
I dunno how much better true 8 bit is than virtual 8bit
