VX924 is excellent for gaming. But trash for watching movies. DVDs look horrible on it, seen it with my own eyes.
True 8 bit pannels on other hand are less responsive and cause ghosting.
VP930b is kinda the middlethinh you can go. Its excellent for movies, though it causes ghosting its not as bad as other 16ms monitors i have seen.
But again its not perfect for gaming, not even close to CRT gaming experience.
Ideally i would prefer 2 LCD setup, 1 fast gaming and 1 true 8 bit but that will put nice hole in the pocket
Or buy that LCD but keep CRT for gaming.

Ive seen my frnds 15" Samsung Syncmaster (4got the model no.) 6bit panel walla. The really old one. Side by Side (Be brought it since we were making am movie)
And the colour reproduction on mine was a LOT better than his.
I dunno how much better true 8 bit is than virtual 8bit
