was just wondering what u guys think about the card 6800 ultra i know its better than 7800gs .. but its th best 6 series card rt? .. rofl provide this graphic nooby some infos..cheers!

6800U was a gr8 card but its not better than 7800GS ...... even in some tests 6800GS has beaten it ..... it was the best 6 series card when launched and had a gr8 price also :)

but it has more pipelines than 6800gs and also it boasts ddr3 and only difference is around 70 mhz cpu clock soo ?

but it has more pipelines than 6800gs and also it boasts ddr3 and only difference is around 70 mhz cpu clock soo ? i've saw 7800gs have 6000mt/sec and here 6800u 6400mt/sec

Well 7800GS is different marchitecture so u can expect better performance. Kinda better tweaked GF6 with few bonous like TSAA and SSAA.

And its about cost - performance ratio. The price of 6800U is rediculous if you are going out to buy the new one.

And BTW 6800GS also uses GDDR3 memory. And 6800U is officially not being manufactured anymore.

AMD Athon 64 3500+ (Venice)
Asus A8N SLI Premium
Antec PSU

rest not known.

after all the effort that was put in by ur very own TE members, why would you want to go with a ASUS SLI premium?

If I was in ur position, I would go with nothing other than a DFI Ultra D..... I went with MSI because I had to get a comp and DFI was not here yet. Even now I am willing to exchange my board (MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum SLI) with a DFI Ultra D just because of the tweakability i will get out of it.............

just my 2 cents.........

Id recommend you do go with a Dual Core now.

AMD X2 3800+ at the least.

And you should think of a better Gfx Card than a 6800U..

Atleast a 7800GT...

I suppose you are making this statement w/o owning or ever using a DFI board.

Believe me if Floppy-Disk flashes and endless nights spent on BIOS tweaks aren't your thing then DFI is your worst nightmare..

Nothing personal, but ASUS 0wns for stability and ease of use, DFI for overclockability.. and if you don't believe me, ask our very own Darklord, he'll say the exact same thing, and I'm pretty sure you'll believe him :)

^
Darky said the same when i mentioned that me being a dummy, was scared of using DFI!! He mentioned that its manageable but ASUS is better for me with hasslefree operation!!
With DFI, you have to sweat it out to setup your system, select the Bios version that best suits your system- nothing like this bios is best for DFI!!
Great OC and best to tinker around for hobbyists- but not if its your main rig!!
Even he got diff rig for day to day tasks and his test rig has DFI!!

Same is the case with most of our Esteemed OCers!!

Some day- me too can join the Esteemed members club!! Till then- Sigh!!

lol, I wouldnt recommend the DFi to anyone, unless you are an advanced user. My board was THE most hardest board to set up properly, and i even got random reboots and crashes with my old 3000+ venice at STOCK SPEEDS!! Took me ages to sort it out.

However, once you get it going, it really flys....:cool2: Been past 350 MHz on the HTT, no problemo. However, sometimes, you really have to put a lot of effort to get it stable first.

Apart from that, It is THE best mobo out there for overclocking. The new AD0 revision has bang on voltage regulation, and imo, is even better than the expert at stability.

for once i beg to differ about DFI :P though I had my initial doubts, once i started using it i have fallen in love with it. My DFI n winnie 3000+ run in perfect sync. Most of the time I just select the "Load Optimized Defaults" in BIOS and run. WHen i want to tweak, i play with the BIOS. :D

IMHO, DFI is as much as a n00b's board as a geek's. my 2 cents..

Edit: just realised this thread is abont a 6800U.. sorry for going OT..

I am sorry too for crapping a 6800U thread!!:( :ashamed: :cool2:

But Masky, you think a Motorhead, pc Dummy can manage DFI?? :ashamed: :P

I got Experts who can help me but it will be more like they doing it all the time and me a puppet!!:ashamed: :cool2:

Frankly, till date, i just know to switch it ON, play some music and surf the net!!:ashamed: :ashamed: :P

ah well err hmm after using xeons and stuffs i wonder if asus will deliver me tht stability cuz my system will run 24/7 for day after day oh well but yea i love asus dfi i just dont OC .. atleast not before the warranties are over :) and yea i am gettin switch's card only so yea :D i am never tht much of a gamer my dad is :| rofl!
and golden frag u have given me a nice opinoin to go with dul core 3800 but its costing me 7000 more plus yeah 7800gtx i simply cant afford tht shit lol.plus i dont think the benchmarks they effects thats much in real world i know 7800gtx will deliver eye candy performance but hey who cares i will play it at 1024 * 768 so 6800u is enuff..to me benchmarks boots computer nerds psycologically rather than it makes the diff.. apparrently who here in TE have managed to use the full potential of a amd 3200+? i'd like to meet him :) by full potential i mean clock by clock cp by cp so yea lol
my config is as follows
Asus A8N - Premium [i love its better than a8n32 sli 2 me for different reasons will tell ya if u want to know]
Amd 3500+ venice
ram Kingston hyperx pc3200 512 *2
xfX 6800u 256 mb pcie ddr3 from switch
viewsonic monitor
i have harddisks but i may get a 160 gb sata if budget allows me thats all
and psu powersafe 500 watts
cd rw
dvd rom :)
and yea budget matters a lot to me since i am gettin this mostly from my earnings here i'mm 18 ;) consider my 6800u choice over 7800gtx guys :P
