I'm looking to buy a 40-42" LCD for a mix of SD & HD content. I'm inclined towards buying the Panasonic 42" LCD L42U30D but haven't been able to demo it against the Samsung 40D550 as yet nor I have I read any reviews or documentation around it.

I'm also getting the Samsung LA30D550 for the same price ~40500, but I already own a 40C550 (AA Variant) bought last year, and I'm wondering if the Panasonic IPA alpha panel would be better. The 40C550 is quite alright but It does suffer from slight back-light bleeding.

What do you guys think? Please share your experiences if any around the Panasonic..

TIA

Ive experienced the L32U20D and L32U30D. I love both of them, considering buying the L32U20D since its a bit old and is available for a good price online (~24-25k). Love the viewing angles on Viera IPS panels

The viera LCD models looks superb. Don't go by the DCR on other models, even I loved the picture quality on panasonic models.

thanks guys, has anyone read a review of this model?

if yes, then please provide the link..

L32U20D owner here. Awesome display, maybe its the upscaler but the picture from a normal cable TV looked way better on the Panasonic compared to the LED panel ones.

SunnyBoi, I'm considering purchasing the L320U20D , since its a bit old model, and available for good prices online (~23-24k). Do you think it's a wise investment? Any specific cons? The other option I have is a 40" LCD - Toshiba 40AV10.

Isn't the Panasonic L320U30D a better option, than the L320U20D?

Zero cons. I played avatar 1080P 38GB rip thru Xtreamer, colours were just beautiful. Haven't done any calibration to the screen.

No idea about that, sorry.

I own this model. Very good color reproduction and PQ. Viewing angles are of course excellent

Thanks guy for your views, I think I'll buy the panasonic L42U30D only instead of samsung LA40D500.

If you can stretch your budget by 10k, why don't you go for the L42E3D? That's a LED TV which is much thinner, with a higher contrast ratio and lesser power consumption? It's available for ~50k.

@SunnyBoi, can you please let us know, if your Panasonci TV can directly play movies from USP, Particularly 1080/720p MKV and MP4 files?
