Ok, for how long did you get this speed?

Was it continuous or just for 2-3 secs and then decreasing and coming to your default speed?

This is probably because some other fivenet user was downloading the same file at the same time and you got this speed from that user only. In Fivenet, all the users get speed in mBps among themselves. You can confirm this by looking at the peers and see from which user you were getting such speeds.

Sanjeet. if you Whois the 1.9 MBps wala IP. it shows FiveNet. that means someone on Fivenet has the same file. hence you are getting insane speed.:)

If your ISP would have been MTNL then you can expect such bursts even for longer period of time. :P

Btw in this case for how much time did you get the speed burst ???

even i got this type of speed burst but it was there for about 3 mins..

^ & yes the speed returned to normal somewhat after 50%..

i dont know for how much time did i get this speed coz i just opened my torrent downloader and experienced this. then i kept waiting to see and believe,"Is this true?!".Then after 55% it can back to normal.i.e. 34 -40 kbps.

@cisco_tech:how can i determine the username or any info about the him using his ip address?

Burst speed exists only for seconds or maximum a minute but not more than that time. This certainly wasn't burst speed.

Whois.net - Domain Names

Exact link = http://tools.whois.net/whoisbyip/

It would come back to normal after 55% cause the peer you were getting those humongous speeds was stuck at the same point itself.

Well, this is nothing new. The ISPs have a lot of bandwidth which they don't release. Sometimes, while testing they release and u get the extra speed.

So, dnt be surprised if it happens again. Just enjoy it while it lasts ;)
