I am building a download rig which will have following components...

  1. A64 3000+
  2. ASUS A8V-VM
  3. 512MB DDR400
  4. 250GB HDD
  5. DVD Writer (optional)
  6. 120/92mm suction fan

Now I want the computer to use less electricity. Also it should not dissipate much heat/ noise... The Zebronics 350w is allegedly 80% efficient & powerful enough to provide for this setup... The system will be up 24x7...

I am unable to find any review for the PSU so need some help from users here... Should I get this PSU or go with any generic PSU

Its selling for ~1.7k last I checked....

Should be more than enuf for your needs....the pro series is a much better built system then the previous ones....in fact even a normal iball or zebronics smps would be enuf for that setup...why bother spending more???

Low heat + noise is the primary concern... I want to find out if they are really 80% efficient like claimed... else no point getting it...

@HailStone: I have been powering it with a 300 watt PSU ripped from an HP rig. So i guess the Zebby should suffice your needs.

Efficiency as such aint gonna be much of a concern as the 80+ is not something you and i write on our PSUs. Its a reputed certification from an independent third party. The 80 PLUS Program | Home

PS: No idea about the noise part.

Just my two cents.

I picked up the same power supply from Delta a coupla days back. Its running the browsing rig at my parents place

Sempron LE + 692GDG + IDE HDD & DVD ROM.

Runs super silent.

Paid 1490/- for it.

With its sleeved cable and silent performance I would say that it is worth it. Also, crazy_eddy mentioned that its a 'HEC' oem model.. Supposedly HEC are a decent company. Its a decent buy for someone on a budget.

^^.. There is no 80+ certification for the PSU on the box or on Zebronics website... Even the page of OEM does not show 80+ certificate for this series.... Its only claimed by Zebronics that's why I mentioned its allegedly 80%...

@stalker... Buddy how much heat does it generate in your browsing rig..... can you give an idea...

Nothing at all :P

The air that exhausts out of it is not even warm :D

What is the ambient temperature in your room...
Its Rs. 1525 Shipped across the nation from mediahome

Yepp.. Sidhu... that is indeed a great price.. If its really 80% efficient then it would be perfect for a download rig....

i really doubt u get 80% efficiency from it ...May be around 70-75%!!!
Have u brought the components??if u only use it for download purpose better get the parts wht stalker has!!!u get considerable difference in power consumed+heat gen compared to urs rig..

That's the only confusion I am having... Even I do not believe it will be 80% efficient... maybe on full load who knows... But the noise & heat factors as stalker claimed should make it efficient than generic...

I know that but I am getting this second hand & it hardly matters much in electricity consumption of my rig compared to Sempron 1250 + 690G which I will have to get new... (compared to what I am spending to get it running...) The difference in power bills would be neglegible...

Also A64 are not power hungry & I might under volt it... :cool2:
