My Sennheiser CX-180 just turned 3 years old and still working. It had 2 years warranty and I replaced it 4-5 times but still this is a new record for me.Most earphones only lasted a few months for me and I have gone through a lot of earphones sony, creative, skullcandy etc.I guess german engineering shows :grinning:

My Sennheiser CX 200 still work, so do my Sennheiser HD 205 and Klipsch S3. All these are over 4 years old. My CX 200 II used by the wife are about 3 years old now as well. Plantronics 925 bluetooths are 4 years old and still work fine. Cosmetic issues have come up though on this one.

Depends, my Soundmagic PL30 had lasted almost two years without any issues, E10 had survived over 1 year without issues and going strong. Now about to put the Pistons through the gauntlets. I am rough with them but not much, I always carry keys in the same pocket with the earphones, but they had survived.

I've owned the Razer Piranha for about 5 years now and it still works perfectly. My Sennheiser HD 203 is about 3 years old now. I think good quality headphones generally are more reliable compared to their cheaper counterparts.

None of my earphones ever broke. Gave pl11 and pl30 to my younger brother when i got brainwavz m3 and tf-10. Sold the m3 and tf-10 to raise money for sp2500 speakers. Currently using es18.

5 years back i bought Nuforce NE-6. After 2 years, its jack started creating trouble. So, i replaced the jack. Then one day, its wire of left earpiece broke from inside so after 2 hour engineering :-P i managed to repair that as well. Presently, it have a replaced jack with lot of taping. The left earpiece cable is about 3 inches short. But still the pair does wonders and i am a fan of its wide soundstage and thump. :D

Used JVC HA-FX67 for more than 6 years almost daily. It broke one of connecting wires inside the earbud due to rough handling. Really missing it.
The stock noice cancellation earphones that came with my sony PMP (some 720-series) lasted for about 3 years.

Am not clear whether you're referring to mechanical strength as in durability or lifetime of the device as in its ability to put out sound to your satisfaction if no mechanical stress breaks them.

I thought earphones sound better as they age...I was talking about the mechanical stress breaks

Gone through several sets iem's due all due to the same reason of cable getting frayed/loose connection in either plug. I guess I average somewhere between 6 months to a year depending of usage.
