Cruncher has been restarted only when the power failed, changed the board and cpu and cheapo iball psu blew a while ago. total 4-5 time. otherwise its on 24x7

Main pc, say 15 times or so due to arrival or stacker, U120E, checking multiple GPUs :P etc.
 
I have my head under the hood of my computer half the day - fiddling around and changing things and swapping HDDs and Fans... just general tinkering .... so my computer gets switched on/off at least 5 times at a min and 20 times as a Max... EVERY SINGLE DAY..... done it for years and years... not had a HDD or MoBo or CPU die on me becuase it was powered on and off many times a day.

well, Im a guy who talked ppl into shutting down comps at office in US. I think its just waste of power if the comp is not doing anything critical.

I usually switch my notebook on when I wake up and shut it when I hit the bed. I keep it on overnight if im downloading anything or my desktop if im compiling any heavy libs.
 
Meh. I thought the thread was unlocked >_<

As for this topic, none. My comp may be a low class rig, but its works fine. No restarts, no errors of any sort since a year now :)
 
Am a 24X7 downloader..Had it not been for frequent powercuts in Delhi, my comp would never be switched off..
