Based on your responses we would decide on putting a blogging tool on TE. Its a new tool thats been released recently and if there is an interest, we can consider adding the blog here.

Please note that if this is to go anywhere, a blog has to be regularly written else it will just go dead. You can for example share your rig gallery updates in blog(i can do a tight integration there)

Senior members respond. In this case whether to have or not have is solely Dependant on what you guys think.
 
A blog is a good idea . However there should be an option in the control panel to delete a blog or active one in the first place .

also a blog not updated in more then 90 days for auto deletion .

+1 for the general idea . brilliant .
 
may i ask one favor

be careful there is some dangerousness form means hurt feel and cheat computer part or software also some site are fade so i always read many review

Blog is always a nice addition. But can we see example of this new tool anywhere? I mean any one already using this integration out there?

I write a lot, i am currently maintaining 2 blogs ( ignore the one in my sig :P )

And if i find the tools here useful with good integration with TE, complete autonomy, complete editing/deleting powers, then i might consider switching here.

But if its decided to be added here, do it for long term and not on trial basis. it should be either here forever or not there.

No restrictions should be there as such. Obviously if the user does not maintain the blog it will die on its own.

Is it that it old and irregular blogs would be auto deleted or just that it would go down in visibility/popularity ...

I hope it is not the former....

It takes all kinds to make this world...including regular + irregular bloggers

PS: Can a mod please clean the junk posts
 
or instead of many blogs for individual members, itll be good to have a single blog with sections for tech, auto, general etc. where many members can blog in one blog.
 
Here is to clarify.

vBulletin has come with official blog addon. I can modify the blogs to make it integrate with rig gallery (desciption) page so that we all in all have a tight integration.

You will have total and complete control over your blog. Only control we will exercise is

1) About who gets to blog. (for obvious reasons people very new to the site won't get access)

2) In exceptional circumstances, we will look into advertising other competing sites in blogs.

You will have control over

1) Who can read the blog(your own buddies, ignore list people are ignored, or everyone)

2) Publish post, moderate comments, save as drafts, upload attachments.

3) Complete trackbacks and pingbacks support.

4) RSS feeds

5) Central display of all blogs.

safin i wanted to ask a question regarding this.

if a person is not member te he won't be able to view the blog?

and are u planning to put advertisements form te site on the blog? or the user can put his own advertisements (adsense or anyother for that matter)

I have a blog and would'nt mind shifting it here
 
Who can access the blog depends on you entirely. I just gave an example of how you can restrict access. Be default everyone including guests can read the blog.

Those who are in your ignore list can be forbidden or you can only allow your buddies to read the blog.(its again you own call. The blog admin is you. You control who reads and what you type.

What i meant by advertising was that don't start blogging about competing sites.

About adsense, not quite decided, we can have either no ads shown on the blog pages or a members own ads can be considered. (You have thrown a good idea, in priciple i think we can allow members own adsense there but we will need to discuss this within staff)

My only issue with that would be that your blog content must be in line with adsense policies.(No warez, illegal stuff) That was anyway applicable.
 
Well, I never understood the need for blogs :P If I have to say something, I can just post it in the general section here. I'm not interested in random strangers from around the world reading what I have to say.

well you can ofcourse disable the option of random strangers and let only close friends of yours see what you have to say ;)
 
Maybe we are going OT here :P But when I want to say something to a friend, I say it directly. Either face to face, or through phone or email, as per the case.
But then its just me. I never understood the need for orkut either :P So you guys just go on ahead and don't mind me.
