I was having a discussion with my father . and a question poped up . how much does it cost to build a site like shaadi.com ?
I had no idea, but got curious. so asking you people.
 
If you want to get it designed and done professionally, it could cost anything from 20-30k to over a lac or so.

I would suggest a budget of 30-50k at least.
 
ok so whats up with the commonwealth website purchasing some technology for 112 crores !! how does that make any sense ?
 
Atleast 1 -3 lacs upfront..U have to consistently maintain it too..Its not a build and forget thing..especially when there is a huge user base..

Also there are server costs, and problems related to servers..

shadi.com , is a very big site, its will cost much more.
 
Depends on what you are looking at....

Suppose you want a smallish website for your store etc.. it depends on where you are going, could cost anything from 2-3 thousand to a few 10's of thousands. I personally designed my own website and bought WP themes for a few and am hosting it on DreamHost. Cost me nothing for this as i did the work on my own.

Something like shaadi.com has a huge userbase so it will obviously need a very robust server and constant maintenance. That is going to cost in lacs..
