As the title goes how much speed do u lose (or gain...though never herd of any1)...i was downloading a DVD rip of Sarkar(my first BT download)....my download speed which was averaging around 7-8 went to 1-2 kbps

What are the download losses or gains which have been experienced by BT users.Post 'em here for old and new BT downloads.

BTW:My 1st thread in these section ;);)

If the file is properly distributed then the torrents works at full swing. However if too many ppl are trying to get the same chunk then the speeds drop. However such things are normal with BT.

This could also happen if one of the fast pear from which u'r downloading terminates its connection or have finished uploading the part which it has downloaded.

hi,

downloading a torrent depends upon seeds and peers and bandwidth too plays an important role. the more the seeds and peers, the better the speed, when i mentioned bandwidth, i meant by upload, the more u upload the better is the download ratio. certain trackers keep track of ur download and upload habbits, where the more u upload the better download speeds u get.

Also if you join a private torrent network you`d get good download speeds too there.. the only catch is that you have to upload enough to get good speeds on the next torrent you download fro there..
on triband its no issue to upload.. but i have been able to get downloads of 27KB with uploads of only 3 KB...(The catch is you gotta have around 10 seeds to achieve this ratio) hehe.. call me a leecher.. but i do upload the bigger stuff like iso`s etc..

my speeds fluctuate a lot...sometimes ive gotten 90 KB/sec and other times its stuck at 300-500 bytes/sec

upload is usually stable around 20 KB/sec but most of the time i average between 25-50 KB/sec but not on a singular torrent
