How much would it take to start a Forum

Hi,

I am a student of a Convent School (Chandigarh) and want to start an official school forum with help of the school authorities ( The Computer Dept.)

So if i can be guided on the procedure to make a good forum.

Everything in detail including how much would it cost the minimum and the maximum.

Want the forum to be a quality. But as the funding to start the site is all mine i want it to be in my budget.

Anyone but anyone who has all the information may reply to this thread please.

How much would i have to spend to start a make a quality site like TE.
Please let me know ASAP.
 
You r 21 and u r still in school ? :O :P Anyways TE is based on Vbulletin software ! Its a Paid software .......How much , I dont Know ! With a Little amount of knowledge and some Help u will be able to setup Ur Forum ! You Might as well try the Invisioni free forums ! From There You will get a Rough Idea of How a Forum works ! I am not in school.

I just said i am a student of A Convent School. (I always will be don`t you think so).

Currently i am in a Law College.

I think i can do something for the School also so that`s why i want to start a forum for my school. Permissions already taken from the School Authorities.

Secondly i don`t want a free thing here.

I want a full-fledged stuff here.

A forum just like TE. ( I mean the way it is designed and everything and all )

Anyways thanks for the reply it`s not what i am looking for.

It`s not a matter of becoming bored or what. The forum is not my alone effort it`ll be Moderated by atleast 10 Mods and 1 Admin . Admin shall be the Head of the Computer Dept. of my school.

So please provide me with the quality stuff here.

I am serious in making this Forum and it`ll be a life long effort.

Please provide me with something which ends up into a forum (Design like TE).

It`ll be a school forum in which all the x-students and current students shall be invited to join to.
 
Try PHPBB, Mambo and Joomla, these will be free if you leatrn how to setup, else pay for it.

vBulletin will start at 85$/yr or more one time investment with lower per year investment

Alternatively you can ask at getafreelancer.com etc to build a forum or at a local shop.
I don't know how much it costs at GAF, but in india it maye around 4k, GAF might be lower
