Friends,

Planning to add 320gb or 500gb to my old desktop.

old config:
Intel 845 mobo with celron D 320,2.4ghz.,40gb HDD

Need help for the below queries:
1.Can i use IDE/SATA convertor to connect new SATA HDD to my old mobo. Will the connector be reliable.

2.Should I keep my OS on old HDD & just use new one for enlarge space,or should I mount OS on newer SATA HDD.I am assuming that the latter option can be problematic, as i'll be using connector.

Has anyone tried this & how it's working.

Yes, u can use the converter. One of my friend is using it. U can prolly just add on another HDD rather than replacing..

Sriharsha,

thanks for this affirmative reply.Yes , I am planning to add the new SATA HDD, not replacing the older IDE HDD.Can you help me to confirm with your friend, if he has faced any issue like; Unable to detect SATA HDD.
