How-to Backup Your Original XBOX360 Games

Before we start with this tutorial here's a quick note:

This guide is written to help you take backups of your original xbox360 games, mainly due the fact that the microsoft xbox360 is causing alot of trouble on game discs like scratches due the malfunction of several dvd-drives and therefore you should be able to backup your own legit copy.

Also take note you won't be able to play your backups as microsoft won't allow booting of dvd-r on your xbox360.

We do not support piracy in any way with this tutorial!

Before we start lets see what we all need:

1) A dvd-drive wich can be easly taken apart

2) Your original xbox360 game

3) Data/Movie dvd wich is at least 8gigabyte in size

4) Philips screwdriver to open your dvd-drive

5) WxRipper can be found @ or at the bottom of the article

6) Optional: Wx360 wich can be found @ or at the bottom of the article

7) Last but not least, some patience.

Let me get this straight, someone would actually want to make a backup of their game which they cant use if they original goes kaput???
 
i guess they would want to.. i do make a backup of the original pc games that i get (which are very rare :P) making a backup of an xbox 360 game (which is pretty costly) would make sense..

and btw, is this legally allowed by MS??
 
I dont undertsnad the logic of doing this if you cant run the backp on your 360... The only smart thing happeneing is that the dummy data is also collected rom the DVD... But stilll No Point...
 
Thats the whole logic of consoles getting hacked under the pretext of telling biggies like MS and Sony that the hack was for the purpose of running back up game which is fully legal if you own an original copy. Think from this point of view, where latest games sells for 50-60$ and suppose your DVD got scratched so bad, that it no more can be read. What will u do? Buying a new copy is a moron's idea considering you had paid for 1 license of the same game. Hence, backing up for personal purpose is fully legal even in the US. These mod chip companies survives on those pretext of allowing backed up games to be run as MS and Sony dont support running a back up copy.

Theres a crack in every system.
 
Thats the whole point behind Modding and Taking backup copies..Not more than 40-50 % use the backup copy for themselves...If a backup copy (be it PC or a console game) is made, most of the ppl go around distributing it to thier friends and they make a copy..ahem..backup of the backup and thus starts an unending chain of pirated copies...ahem..BACKUPS.
 
btw, backup copies of XBOX 360 have hit the torrent sites like Project GOtham Racing 3 and Dark Waters. The problem is each of these back ups are around 6 GB + , for which you will need Dual Layer DVD, which are sh!t expensive. (Around 250+)
 
Games had to be that big with graphics like that...

PS:BTW are DL DVD freely available here? I asked around in a few shops some days back about DUAL Layer DVD and they had no idea what I was talking abt :p
 
you do get in Lamg Rd, but 250 for cheap nalla brand. Good Brand is 325 upwards. Unless, price of Dual Layer DVD goes down, I think we have to stick to buying the "Made in Malaysia/Pakistan" pirated copies. I got all the seasons of Friends in Dual Layer Disc.(10 Disc, 1 Disc for 1 season). They are proper copies of the original Friends season DVD released. I will be getting Southpark season soon. Each DVD Cost me just 80 bucks.

I got all these from Ahmedabad, the best place for pirated copies in whole of India. They got shops in high class malls which sells only pirated software.
