ok.. so i am workin in a co.
they hav given me net access..we hav a LAN and net access is thro a central server.
but im really paranoid abt security :ashamed: :ashamed:

1)is there any way to browse securely? i dont wanna the IT guys to know wat i have been surfing (& i dont mean pr0n !) , to know my email Pwds etc..

2)how do i check the comp for Keyloggers etc..?

Plz help fast !!

P.S:i really dont hav any work@ the compaany !!

use utilities like crap cleaner it deletes most of ur net traces like the webpages u've visted and also the personal data's that u've gvn to a website and there're lots of antikeylogging softwares availlable ,they check wether ur sys is keylogged or not. google it up

google for all the processes in your task manager. If a keyloger is running, it ought to show up there.

as for secure browsing, use firefox , stealther , and a proxy :D

If its a good keylogger it will not show its name in the task manager.

Btw delhiboy your IT guys can get all your passwords provided they know which tools to use and how to use them.

^^ thats true i guess.. coz i myself had used a Keylogger that didnt show up in the Task Manager at all. and that ws like 5-7 yrs ago !! there must b mucho better programs now.. ;)

so there's really no way to surf securely? wat if i type my password in Wordpad and then copy-paste it into email site?? i rber something abt wordpad using encryption or something...

Also, if i access any website; lets say Gmail; thro IPHIDE.com; will my browsing b visible to the IT guys even then..??

your clipboard is also vulnerable ;) besides , even if you found out evidence of how they're monitoring you, you wouldnt be able to change them, cos you probably wouldnt have the rights to do it , as i found out :ashamed:

correct me if i am wrong ......

if u use a proxy to browse, the IT guys will kw wat proxy u used, but they wont kw wat sites u visited, using that proxy.

If your connection is encrypyted, then yes but if its not then the IT guys can open individual packets and see your links, data etc. You can record all these packets and run a different tool which will extract usernames and passwords of popular sites for you.
Moral of the story - If you control the server, you control everything. :)

unless you're in a secure zone , or your sysadmins are really crazy/paranoid, they wont bother. browse to your hearts content :P, unless they catch you red handed , you'll stay out of trouble ( i mean, even if it is all logged , who is going to sit and wade through tons of data logged from several , even tens of thousands of employees :D )

The stupid proxy at my office blocks most of the good sites. i don't mean orkut, but places like google groups. I've got phpProxy on one of my sites and use that to access when site is blocked. the proxy script is pw protected so nobody can know what it is even if they reach there.

I know how good are admins at my office :P so am not really worried about monitoring. In any case. its not easy to dig through the data. If you use email apps like gmail, which provides a secure connection. they cant find what did you write in mail..no matter how many packets they monitor.

and isnt that only if they monitor in realtime?

if i set my browser to " empty -cache, cookie, saved passwrd, authenticated session, download history, saved form info, etc ON EXIT" ; can they monitor my usage even then?

hey guys,

1) safeguarding against traffic analysis ->

a) I use Tor + privoxy/polipo/3proxy + ntlmaps to bypass
the stupid ISA content filter & firewall @office

b) If you have net@home then proxytunnel + ssh option is also there
( kinda slow though!)
2) Use a Agood V scanner + rookit detectors to ensure that your
office is not compromised
My company also blocks sites like orkut skins.be ;) but by using above methods you are good to GO :)

enjoy!

Yes they can. If they monitor the server and/or if you have to go through a proxy. I have heard of places that do this. Hell, even my university did this when I was there [And still does this I think.:P]

If the b/w you have is not very much anyway (~<50kB/s), I suggest you use something like Your-Freedom.

Code:
http://www.your-freedom.net/

It tunnels all your data through to one of their servers (free) and also uses a registered ID. So should be decently safe. The free version works only 6 hours a day or something I think.
