I have a 5.66 gb ISO file. How do I burn it on a single DVD ?? Please dont say dual layer DVDs or anything :P

zip and burn? :bleh: there was a software starting from K. it used to convert 700Mb data into just 1MB and used to decompress in 30 mins or so.. i hope i could get back some links to that software. its very useful.

try removing those extras like menus, special features, unwanted soundtracks/subtitles and just keep the main movie maybe you will be able to get it under 4.7 gb @ 100% quality.

try DVDFab platinum. and then create the iso file again.

otherwise since its a movie then the only option that remains is write it onto a dual layer DVD (which u dont want to do)

or split the movie and write it into (two) single dvds

The name of the zipping software is Kgb Archiver ... amazing results for compression ... it ll take time .. bt u ll be amazed wid the results.. u mite better keep some more files in handy for stuffing on the DVD .. :D

Download From Softpedia :

Download KGB Archiver 1.2.1.24 - KGB Archiver is the compression tool with unbelievable high compression rate. It beats UHARC and 7zip!! - Softpedia

Edit:-^^^ yeh yeh... KBG.. amazing software.. i was looking for it since a long time .. :) repped you!!

try to use that software which i described in my post above. i cant remember that software name :( you 5.66GB will size max 20 Mb. use it if you want to keep data for long term. but decompressing will take hell lotts time.

If using KGB archiver, its advisable to have min of 2BG ram for optimum results.. Personally, i used it (though not in its max potential) and didn't find the results satisfactory AT all :(

If its a movie, simply use DVD Shrink :D

how ?? It is a movie .iso file. Not a single movie. More a special edition DVD which has 2 main movies, some extras, subtitles, etc....

I dont know if it's me alone, but i'm NEVER able to shrink "ORIGINAL" Bought DVD9 movies DVD to DVD 5 movies DVD(for my Personal backup),even after cutting down EVERY sort of extras from the Original movies with softwares like "DVD Shrink" etc. I really cannot afford buying Good-Q DL DVD blanks (Expensive yet) & I fear loosing all my original & P* DVD's (over 200-250) at some point of time..So,maybe I need to request for the same sort of HELP all the more.

** Using Raw compression s/w like KGB,7-zip,etc is NOT an option, coz i want the Output DVD's directly playable on my Philips DivX-DVD player & also I dont want a DivX-Xvid format output too!

What I do for shrinking a original DVD9 to fit a blank DVD5 is.

1. Use Vobblanker to blank out those extras, FBI warning, trailers.
2. Use Vobblanker to strip extra audio tracks and subtitles.
3. Use DVDRebuilder with CCE to encode the movie.

I get amazing results with CCE and you can hardly notice any blocks or difference in quality for compression upto 60%. I have compressed 100s of original DVD using the above method and I am very much satisfied. :ohyeah:

well, i have compressed dvds of size arnd 7GB to 4.38GB one s using dvd shrink and the quality didn't suffer much....from 5.6(maybe even less after u remove the extras etc.) to 4.38GB the quality diff wud be barely noticeable.

btw, shakensoul how much time does it usually take to reencode an entire dvd of say size arnd 7-7.5GB using CCE and on what setup(c2d/amd x2)?

Mount it with Daemontools or Alcohol, and then use DVDShrink to point to the virtual drive.

KGB Archiver is nothing special. It just trades time for space, two of the fundamental elements in computing. A good compression algorithm is one that balances these parameters and provides good ratios in acceptable time.

My setup is AMD Athlon 64 3000 (stock, single core) and 1GB RAM.

To compress a movie around 5-6GB using CCE, it takes around 3-4 hrs on my rig using 3-4 passes.

If you compress the entire 7GB DVD, the results would not be good and blocks would appear.

DVDShrink is good for compressing a movies <5 GB, for movies >5GB use CCE and it produces amazing results.

cce is cinema craft encoder, a popular dvd re-compression utility. Unless you want all the extra's, I would also use dvd shrink to strip out additional sound and languages and subs and extra's. Do not compress it with dvd shrink, and you may still have a larger than 4.5gb file, if that is the case it will take less compression to arrive at a nice quality dvd using something like cce, or one of my favorites dvd2svcd. If you want a lot of good tutorials and info re-compressing, ripping and which tools to use (and download links) check out Doom9.net - The Definitive DVD Backup Resource.

That means it may take smwhere arnd 2hrs on my amd x2 3600+ 2GB RAM setup...once oced the time may reduce further........next time ripping a DL dvd wouldn't be a problem i guess...

btw which program to use for cce?...any free ones out there?
