Hi,
I have purchased one 22' dell in BLR from a retail shop.
I have purchased the same only after confirming that it has 5 years of warranty.
Bill also specify the 5 year warranty.
But I want to confirm the same from DELL...
Is there anyway to check n confirm the same...

Thanks

Please note that you will need the order number for the monitor as well with the serial number. So make sure you got the order number on the bill :)

if the monitor has the service tag.. you can go this website and check the warranty status. This is what i do for my laptop.. not sure if its applicable to monitors as well but no harm in trying :)

monitors unfortunately do NOT have service tags so its not as straightforward. you need the order number to get anywhere.

^^ gotcha :) .. but is there a provision to use the order number to check the warranty on the website?

but whats this order number????

I can see the serial number on the box and on the moniter but order number???

SIGH!!!!!!-----...your mind seriously couldnt come uo with oh wait "why dont i just call dell and they'llinstruct me how to find my svc tag, order no. etc and tell me my WARRANTY"

?????????????

@BacktoExistence: Nope. U will need to cal up dell toll-free support and talk to someone.

@sharmapu: You wil need to prob get it from the dealer you got your monitor from.

@Jatt: Bhaji, Thats one of the benefits of this forum :P

Anyways, I did call them up once for my monitor and this is what the rep told me. Even I was surprised cos I dont have that order number either (didnt bother after that:P)

The rep could have been wrong of course ;)

Thanks guys for u r suggestions...

@ techie007 : thanks a lot buddy for that precise info..

My carton was slightly damaged so the order number was not at all visible.

thats why lot of confusion. The order number is usually printed on the side of box of the monitor.

Called the guy and received the order number.

@Jatt : On Sundays the Dell office is closed and u may agree this order number thing is only with dell. So the confusion.

May be all of us not as smart as u. ;-)

Is it? Any idea where on the box? Cos i dont think it was there on my box :( Will bug the dealer for it probably. Just in case, never know when its required ;)

Note down the 20digit PPID number at the back...Thats how I got my monitor replaced...

cool. will check it out.

I did give that guy the serial number but the rep said only that number wouldnt help and they needed the order number as well :( Maybe he was just dumb :P

its on the box, check white sticker...

On call with dell , they have no idea on how to check warranty....

after lot of ping pong between warranty support, customer support and technical support, one guy said if its written in bill 5 years warranty then it must be 5 years ....LOL go figure

people say DELL warranty rocks , after this I am having serious doubts

update: Finally some sensible person answered the call, he says the monitor has got only 3 years warranty. Now I need to speak with Glassglow computers brigade road BLR, why they said n mentioned 5 years...

Hmm... I gave them order number and they asked me for the 20digit number after which they replaced it...
Maybe they need both...

From my experience, the customer guys are too easy to deal with on warranty claims.
There are few people who get annual replacement done with some fictitious problems :P
