FaH33m said:1) The problem is when one member provides with sound advise in a particular section , for eg : power supply thread or even a earphone thread. I have seen n00bs or fanbois crapping it with suggestions of completely inferior product and backing it with " It is the best,I have used it " .This misleads the OP who seeks information and it is like "1 good advice against 10-15 people suggesting the crappy product." At this point I just feel like giving up .:|.

* Use of sms /social networking lingo.
* No one liners. If a member is suggesting something ,he should back it up with facts, figures, reviews if any or even if its a personal experience he should mention it along with other alternatives he has tried for the product he is suggesting.

Corrected.
Please do not complain if people fail to understand when a mod tries to clarify things impartially yet gets accused of being unreasonable/high-handed just coz they are mods/staff and treat others inferior or something like that

The uncle says he's going to buy 5970 so he wants equivalent but decided after so many posts that he will go for 5850, calling it "its really good for the price".
Some people will say he's dumb. Some people will say he's stretching it to increase his post counts. In such scenarios, how will the mods decide whether his confusion is for real or he's just post pumping?

I think a badge is only cosmetic. However if the answers given are detailed explaining one's pov then it cuts down on misunderstandings and effectively blows arguments away. Yeah, this takes work but in the end it pays. If one can make such an argument then nothing cosmetic is required.FaH33m said:If the new members can differentiate between someone who provides good suggestions and advice ,because of the badge ..it would help solve the problem to some extent.
Reporting is best here.FaH33m said:2) One more thing ,I find the most irritating is people posting one liners and sms lingo .It's really a pain to read some of the posts.

I think what you described happens anytime there is an influx of new members. If the site is to grow then this has to be endured until the new members integrate. A low post count is usually a good indicator.FaH33m said:I love TE,and it hurts to see the current state of the forums .Also I have noticed that due to the above stated problems , lot of senior members have stopped posting .
I try to report irrelevant, spam posts as much as possible and I request all the other members to do the same.
We don't want TE to be like - just another Tech forum.
