How to connect 2 Computers?

Hi,
ppl i'm gonna buy a new comp soon,Since i already have an old computer in the hall,i would like to place the new comp in my room which is 1 floor above the hall.I have BSNL Broadband.Now my question is how to i connect to the internet from my room using the same modem placed in the hall?basically i want both the computers to be able to connect to the internet at the same time.Any suggestions?

get a switch and any some long ethernet wires.. plug them in and voila!

Even i thought of that,But the wires are tangled and *might* cross 100m,Any other alternatives?

If they do cross 100m then you need to put in repeaters, i.e. say after every 80m or so put in another switch.

That will do the trick. Costly and messy affair tho.

yeah... go wireless.

Get a wireless router, and hook it up to your broadband modem. If the 1st computer is by the modem just hook it up direct to the new router, then setup the 2nd as wireless. This is the setup I have at home with my wife's and my computer... it works great.
