How to cut HD videos?

Hi ppl.I need to cut an 8GB HD movie file in half so that i can burn it onto 2 DVD-Rs as dual layer discs r kinda expensive.Which software wud u recommend??

Hey Saiyan,i was able to split the 8GB file into two 4GB files.Now cud u gimme step by step instructions on how to join them back into a single 8GB file again....??

mkvmerge GUI > tab "Input" > drag part 1 of your video into "Input files" > click "append" button > select part 2 of your video > start muxing

instead of doing all that, make a RAR file, it will spilt into to dvds , thats better.

U cannot play rar files directly as its a video, splitting the video is the best thing to do or buy a dual layer DVD which will cost more than two single layer discs..............

I have installed K lite codec pack but still not able to play hd videos.
