Storage Solutions How to enable another HDD.please help.

Guys i have a 80gb IDE HDD. I got another 250gb SATA hdd.Now after adding the sata when i booted windows 7 detected the HDD and gave message successfully installed the new device.But i cannot find it or it is not being shown in the hdd list.I only see those old partition of 37 and 38 gb.:(

How to enable the new hdd please help. My IDE jumper settings = ] J ] J ]

where ]= empty pins
J=jumper
I did not get any jumper pins with the new sata drive.
Bios is american megatrend
Please help.
 
umm...try windows device manager>disk management...you may have to "enable" it(don't remember the exact term.)

Btw guys another query why the sidk space is shown so less.I mean i can understand windows reserves some after formatting but still around 18 gb is missing.
 
for HDD, 1MB = 1000kb not 1024. Calculate accordingly

1MB = 1000kb

1GB = 1000MB

250 GB = 250*1000*1000*1000 Bits = 250000000000 Bits


But for windows, 1MB is still 1024KB

So

So if you calculate

250000000000/1024 = 244140625 KB

244140625/1024 = 238418.5791 MB

238418.5791/1024 = 232.8306437 GB

So you get roughly 232 GB from 250 GB HDD
