i have an 80gb seagate hdd, i ran the checkdisk utility and it showed me 24 kb in bad sectors on the c drive,i cant even format the c drive now, how do i fix the bad sectors?

HDD regenerator. but you have to buy the full version, demo allows fixing just 1 bad sector at a time :|

Bad sectors can't really be fixed. They can only be marked and remapped to spare sectors (if any exist) so that the operating system doesn't try to use those physical spaces on the hard disk again. Seagate should have a tool on its website that'll let you scan for and remap bad sectors.

Also, bad sectors on a hard drive qualify it for replacement if it's under warranty ;)

He came, he saw and he posted.

Not gonna say anything now..Mr Tracer said it all.

Only one thing that i can write which was told to me by my teacher at school, ki u dont go abt trying to fix the bristles of a tooth brush which may come off..

and i added : If too many of sch incidents are happening get a new brush

On a serious note, if bad sectors have started to occur, keep a tab of their increase, back up ur data and if too many of them are reported then get a new media.
