whenever i try to download english movies or dvd's from demonoid or even any other foreign tracker(given the health is good),i just dont get speeds.they range from 1-15 at most.and i am on a 512 kbps unlimited connection.on the other hand,if i try hindi movies frm bwt i get good speeds - 45-58 if the health is ok.

agreed the seed/peer ratio is better in bwt as compared to in demonoid, but there must surely be a way out.i have even increased the half open connection to 90 but not even a slight increase in speeds was noticable.

i use utorrent, and have tried azureus too,but sppeds just dont increase.and thats not only with me,all of my friends face the same problem.is there any way out?

Increase the number of connections per torrent..Make it 150....

Low speeds are a problem in most public torrents. Since the number of peers/seeders are more in public torrents and each peer may not have the best upload speed, increasing the number of connections per torrent would increase the speed...

Another solution is to use a registered tracker....There the speeds are amazing even if there is only one seeder (i've got speeds of 150 KB/s on torrents with just one seed).....

^zebra: increasing the connections/torrent for more than 100 may lead to choking of the bandwidth to any other application..i set max to ~80...not more..

If u use Azureus , download the DHT scraper plugin too..& enable encryption ...

well i forgot to add one thing,if the torrents dont use my 80% of bandwidth a,i try putting 4-5 torrents so that at least my bandwidth is used!is it the right thing to do?

another thing is that i have a night unl. connection.when i use azurues it hangs,or should i say crashes my d-link dsl 502t modem about 2-3 times every night and the problem is that i have to restart the modem once again.for that reason i capped mmy upload to about 17kbps when the max it cud go was 25.is there any way of solving this azureus problem?i tried port forwarding but it still hangs!by hang i mean that the ethernet and dsl lights go off and so does the connection and only the status and power lights can be seen

Also , google with the exact torrent name , and look for more trackers ... does the trick in most cases .. specially when u download a torrent with a bad health :P

Also , if one torrent doesn't utilize the full bandwidth .. then start up multiple torrents .. no hard in doing so ..

Ya..I do agree but sometimes u need to do it...
Just yesterday I was downloading a torrent with 20000 seeds and 40000 peers..
I was getting pathetic speeds and the speed was hardly exceeding 10 KB/s....

But as soon as I increased the maximum number of connections per torrent I started getting speeds above 100 KB/s....

True, I wouldn't recommend doing it permanantly but sometimes when u have a torrent with lost of seeds and not getting satisfactory speeds then u can increase the number of connections and then reset it back later....

PS: The client made a connection to around 48 seeds and around 60 peers (thats 128 connections for a torrent)for that torrent after changing the value....

^ Yep. It's very advisable to increase the connections per torrent limit for insanely large swarms.
Otherwise the torrent often connects you to some 97 peers and just 3 seeds.
