The sad part is that this will still be the hottest thing on the market the next two years inspite of this.
Correction...!!! for next one year. Then Apple would release iPhone 5 and it would have yet another manifestation of messed up basic functionality. But to be fair and to Apples credit, every iPhone released so far have had issues with the basic phone functionality like dropped calls and signal issues, but when has it ever stopped people from buying them. You blend an iPhone to dust in a blender and put it up for sale on eBay and it would still sell and probably for a lot more than its actual price.

After having watched hundreds of iPhone users on forums, review sites, youtube etc, One thing I can say is that quite a majority of these people are not buying a phone, but rather an Apple product. Many have the silliest reasons for buying one. There was this guy on a discussion board pimping for Apple. He says that Americans should not buy Samsung, Nokia or HTC phones because they are not American companies and anyone who does is a traitor. Instead everyone should buy iPhone's since they are 100% made in America by an American company. Not only is the reason silly, but he is ignorant of the fact that a major part of iPhone hardware is built by Samsung and the phone itself is not manufactured in America.

It doesn't matter to such people whether the iPhone has design flaws. Just look at the number of people defending what Job's had to say in his e-mail reply. A few of the minority who actually bought these phones thinking they were buying great phones and had some thing to say about Job's indifference got chewed down by the majority after getting labeled as idiots who don't know how to hold a phone. Eventually, they would just hold it differently or buy that $30 bumper which in my opinion apple made mainly because they already knew about the antenna issue, but selling under the ruse that it would inset the glass and provide better protection for the glass body.
